Installing Snow Leopard, an adventure

Big Kitty or Killer Cat ?Big Kitty or Killer Cat ?
Snow Leopard is advertised as the simplest install of any OS in the past. My laptop begs to differ.

Snow Leopard

By Q-Bert - Posted on 27 August 2009

Well, I ordered my family pack yesterday. That will take care of my two Intel boxes in the house, but what about my dual G5?

I am rather pissed at Apple for dropping all of PowerPC chips, but I guess that's the price Apple is willing to pay to double their hardware sales this year :-/

So, either I stay with Leopard on my main workstation, or I somehow convince Pebbles that I need a new workstation...

District 9 - A Review

By Swag - Posted on 22 August 2009

So me and Q-bert went to see District 9 tonight, right after going to greekfest and eating some nice food.

Right off the bat the movie starts out as a quasi-documentary style narrative, where certain events would happen followed by some solo commentary by various characters (kindof like the Office). What I really enjoyed was the fact that the aliens were shown almost right away, instead of hiding them throughout most of the movie and having them pop out somewhere else later on. Read more

Battelstar Galactica - A (short) Retrospective review

By Swag - Posted on 21 August 2009

So I finally finished watching BSG from start to finish.

I was originally going to write a long review, but you guys have the attention span of flies.

Here I go:

SFX: Very well done, especially the "blurry" Firefly camera and audio design. But the Centurion animations and rendering were generally poor.

Acting/characters: Hit a miss really. Some excellent characters were Baltar, Sing, Admiral Adama, the Cylon from Quantum Leap, and my favorite, Tom Zarek (I love his two face persona). Read more

I'm Batman and you're Robin

By Blackwalt - Posted on 19 August 2009

Rolly and Blackwalt have a bedtime conversation

Rolly: "I'm Batman and you're Robin."

Me: "Okay..."

Rolly: "You can borrow my Bat-things if you want."

Me: "How about some Bat-a-rangs?"

Rolly: "No, you have your own."

Me: "Can I borrow the Batmobile?"

Rolly: "No, I have to drive it."

Me: "Okay, how about the Batplane?"

Rolly: "No, I'm using it."

By Blackwalt - Posted on 13 August 2009

Not this again...Not this again...So it's a smidge long

In a conversation with our new vets office, scheduling an appointment for next Monday (it's Thursday today).

"Do you mind dropping off his medical files so the Vet can read them before the appointment?"

Oh, come on, it's only 48 pages of small type. How many days do you need?

"Are you sure that's going to be enough time?" (me asking)

"Oh yes, the Vet is working on Saturday."

I was too...
