Defective once again, my Xbox 360 Core returns to Microsoft...

Again with the stinking coffinAgain with the stinking coffinBecause I haven't had enough issues with Microsoft's faulty Xbox 360 design:

HoC node 1444, HoC node 46 , HoC node 103 , HoC node 138 , HoC node 145 , HoC node 235 , HoC node 339 , HoC node 412, HoC node 805, and HoC node 807 although some of these are stories more than actual flaws

As mentioned in a previous blog entry my Xbox 360 Core has failed yet again. Admittedly, after loaning it to MoriceRevek. Like that's ever going to happen again! And after researching the complications involved in replacing the DVD drive myself or locally I am sending it in to Microsoft for repair.

Please note that the DVD drive is encryption keyed to the Xbox 360 itself.

Straight physical replacement (like the Original Xbox) is not possible. You have to either:

Before you continue mocking, Microsoft's price came in cheapest particularly after you realize they include three way shipping, 12 month warranty, and one month free Xbox Live.

Local repair would have cost $59 for the drive, shipping, and $40 for the local repair guy to rip the encryption key and physically install the drive. With no warranty.

Microsoft's cost? $110 plus tax. Repair, 12 month warranty, three way shipping, one month Xbox Live. Still more than I want to pay but a surprisingly better deal than any other option. And yes I did check Ebay, Kijiji, and UsedOttawa.

We need to all shed what's left of our masculinity and switch to Wii.

I few of us have done this already, but their masculinity had already been in question anyway.

I will prove my masculinity by gritting my teeth and allowing Microsoft to force their crippling hardware interlocks into the deepest regions of my existence. Long live the overlords!!!
