Just so we’re clear, I hate Blackwalt. I loathe the ground he walks on. The hate is deep and lingering. That being said, finding this was so classic, even I had to laugh. Unfortunately, watching it again has reminded me just to what point I hate him. Seething hate.

The Pintsie goes to: Monthly Sega Night (long and old story) – HoC needs to start a regular gaming night. Which weekday is better for you?

There were polls with more views and/or more responses, but there's nothing like trying to organize a simple date to bring out the best of this clan. Special kudos to Blackwalt for leaving 3 days of the week out of the choices and to Ice for complaining that the poll should be multiple choice.

Really, what did you expect? Yes it RRODs way more than it should and any self-respecting 360 gamer owns two of them just in case, but the games are great, the online experience is second to none and the update to Live, with the ability to run games from the hard drive and the new party feature, makes this a simple choice.

All other consoles are lame at their best. No honourable mentions. Enough said.

Best Game of the Year

The Pintsie goes to: Left 4 Dead

I know, I know, but we all played it and we all loved it. You didn't seriously expect it to go to anything else did you? Adversarial or co-op. Without a doubt the best cooperative experience of the year with all the intense zombie goodness you would expect and more.

I expect this will cause a lot of dissension. Particularly from those HoC members who don't own a copy of Left 4 Dead and I am okay with that.

Sure there wasn't a lot to it other than killing zombies but when you streamline an experience to it's minimal trappings you get the essence of Zombie Survival. And Zombie Survival is just awesome. Except for when we didn't. Survive that is. And face it, any game that can make Herd of Cats co-operate even remotely deserves every award it gets.

So congratulations to Left 4 Dead. Enjoy your Pintsie, you earned it.

Honourable mention: Rock Band 2. Just shut it and stop whining.

Best HoC Comic of the Year

The Pintsie goes to: Some games should never be played by Akufadumamai

This is an odd category for HoC as most of the comics were done by the same author. While I do have a personal favourite I am afraid that it only qualified for sloppy seconds (sloppy thirds now as I changed my mind again). The winner is Akufadumamai's mockery of both Moricerevek and Guitar Hero. I would have gone for a polka version but Wilson Phillips is much more to Moricerevek's taste.

Honourable mention: Originally I picked HoC Live 3 for the Smores but in a third reading discovered that the second place position belongs proudly to What is this "revive" you speak of? because, frankly, it's us.
