A Tuesday Night Star Trek Quickie
It's not as exciting as it sounds
So other than letting you know we played Star Trek: the video game I really don't have a lot to talk about.
Coxxorz and I overlapped in our Xbox Live time by an hour so we used it to play Star Trek. As mentioned during our last adventure we quit out will still working our way through Chapter 6, Gorn Planet & the Trials. Turns out we only had two minutes left in that chapter. Which took us ten minutes as we both died six times. In a row. At the same point.
Short synopsis: still well worth the $10 for cooperative play.
We got picked up by Sulu and McCoy in the shuttle but couldn't land on the Enterprise as it was under attack - Chapter 9, Enterprise Capture. So we space jumped across to the ship landing in the smallest airlock port possible. It took many tries as Kirk kept crashing into space debris. Spock had no difficulty as he continually pointed out. "Pointed." Get it?
Then we boarded the Enterprise and went about taking her back from the Gorn. Scotty appeared a lot in these scenes along with his partner Keenser and the writers put all the work into his dialog that had previously reserved for McCoy. Entertaining and well written.
All the Commendations in these two areas were related to stealth. Something we had proven we could not do. However we discovered a glitch in the game, or more fairly a work around. The Gorn left mines all over the place. Which you could hack with your tricorder. Hacked mines blew up when Gorn got close to them. Despite the loud boom and the death of a Gorn this did not break our cover. DID NOT BREAK OUR COVER. Our commendations remained intact. Nearby Gorn also did not seem to notice and did not investigate or even act suspicious. A game play glitch we took advantage of.
We managed to work our way to engineering. Beam back Sulu and McCoy and then met up with Scotty and Keenser near the Warp Core Drive. We need to manually activate the Warp Cores without alerting the Gorn. In the middle of this mission I realized my overlap time with Coxxorz was over, quit out and shut down. I hope Spock made it out alive.
Red Shirts? We had a few...
