EBGames continues its campaign against gamers
Specifically its campaign of overcharging gamers
Now off the start I am admitting two things:
- I am biased against EBGames as previously covered on this site (too numerous to list)
- I still shop at EBGames (deals, inventory clearance, for Rolly and, face it, they always have everything)
But every so often they take advantage of their essential monopoly in a way that pisses me off. This time with Sniper Elite 3.
Remember in my previous story when I suggested that someone pre-order Sniper Elite 3? Do not pre-order at EBGames.
With Sniper Elite 3 Rebellion is pricing the old generation versions (Xbox 360 and PS3) at a lesser price than the new generation versions (Xbox One and PS4). MSRP is $44.99 for Xbox 360/PS3 versus $59.99 for Xbox One/PS4. EBGames has chosen to ignore the MSRP and charge $49.99 for the Xbox 360/PS3 versions because "Why not, who will notice?"
Well I will and I will mention it. Here and in person to anyone I am talking to. Although Nickie and Furball seemed more disinterested than normal.
$49.99 is $5 more than elsewhere. I have checked other Canadian retailers and they have the Xbox 360/PS3 versions listed at $44.99. (Future Shop, Best Buy, Amazon.ca, ...)
Even for EBGames this is a little bit blatant. Keep in mind that there is still three weeks before Sniper Elite 3 releases and it is possible that EBGames will correct their price. Unlikely but it is possible. I still suggest that if you are interested in Sniper Elite 3 (and some of you should be) that you purchase it elsewhere.
EBGames, yet again "...training me to shop elsewhere." (previous reference one and two.)
