Revisiting Zombie Chronicles: Nacht der Untoten

In an article yesterday I read about a Playstation player who missed playing the original Zombie Chronicles maps once he retired his PS3. This lead me to realize how lucky we were to have backwards compatibility on the Xbox One. Compatibility that included the three Call of Duty games that included the Original zombie maps. While waiting for the Xbox release of Zombie Chronicles I decided this would be the ideal chance to revisit the original maps in their original forms. One player, one attempt... How bad could it be?

First up: Nacht der Untoten

I remember when World at War first came out and we all had to wait for Stormblade to finish the game before Zombie Mode could be unlocked and played. This was before the patch which unlocked it for all players. I also remember the sheer number of nights lost to our first experience with zombie mode.

Okay, so this was embarrassing and sad particularly with my first foray into the old maps. I almost restarted despite my one player, one attempt promise. First off I wasted a few seconds checking for the perk machines before realizing mule kick had only been added in the Black Ops remake. This is also when I remembered there was no speed reload for the LMGs which I thought would be my undoing.

I assumed I had a decent start with the tickle trunk coughing up Molotovs (bad), Browning LMG (good), and the Raygun (yes!) in my first three random spins. This was not the case...

Round 5. I said it was embarrassing, didn't I?

My undoing was forgetting how many openings existed inside the second "HELF" room. I wasted too much time on the tunnel and allowed the room behind me to fill up from a swarm out of the starting room. I guess I should have boarded up all the windows between levels. I had forgotten more than I had thought about Zombie Mode and it cost me and it cost me early.

I had hoped for better in my first visit to the original Zombie Chronicles maps. Let's hope it gets better for Verrückt...
