Interstellar Marines
A "AAA Indie" title now in development
Why am I interested in a Independent title about Space Marines? Well, A: Space Marines! and B: Land sharks! Did you look at that photo? It's a squad of marines and a Mech being attacked by a land shark. A land shark!
From independent developer Zero Point Software Interstellar Marines is described as:
- Interstellar Marines is an AAA, FPS, Sci-fi, action and adventure game with an original and unpredictable storyline featuring single and cooperative gameplay, with heavy focus on realism. Planned as a trilogy and targeted at a 17+ audience. The game is currently being developed for PC. In time aimed at the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
Oh yeah, four player co-op campaign, did I forget to mention that?
There is a Interstellar Marines Hands-On write up at Gamespot which is where I first discovered the game. It talks about the Indie roots of the upcoming title as well as discussing how Zero Point Software walked away from big publishers because of the number of changes requested.
- A first-person shooter conceived by Zero Point Software in the early 2000s, it was prototyped using a well-known game engine and then shopped around to the big publishers at the Games Developers Conference. However, the developers were deterred by the amount of changes that publishers wanted to make to their game and decided to remain independent while continuing to work on the game. The result is a game that’s being driven by the community that surrounds it and who has a very real opportunity of shaping the way the final product turns out.
I hope this game makes it out. As well as it's coolness factor I love a good Indie game, a good unknown game and I always like to root for the underdog. (Go Stormblade!)
