Q-Bert: Not quite getting it...
It seemed like such a simple gaming invite
So this isn't the first time I have run into issues playing Xbox with Q-Bert but I was still surprised. I shouldn't have been, but I was.
I have been having internet connection problems since Thursday. So I haven't been on Live for a few days. Saturday night I decided to play the single player campaign on my new $22.50 copy of Wolfenstein. When I signed in, my Xbox surprisingly connected to Live and showed me that Q-Bert and Moricerevek were playing Borderlands. I figured I was safer staying offline.
So immediately after the first cutscene for Wolfenstein I got a game invite from Q-Bert. An invite to play Borderlands. No party invite, just for the game.
Okay fine. Why not. Clicked on accept.
Please switch discs. No problem.
Load screen, intro video, loading screen, "the game session you are trying to join no longer exists."
Fine, figures, I'll join their party and get them to send me another invite.
Wait no party. Okay fine.
Wait...
No Q-Bert. Oh, he must have crashed.
Invite Moricerevek to a party to find out what's going on. There's a ten minute delay while Moricerevek finds his microphone. Oh! There he is.
Q-Bert? He didn't crash. He went to bed.
"He went to bed."
Okay... so... fine...
I'm glad the last thing he managed to do before dropping off to sleep was invite me to stop what I was doing and join him in a non-existent game.
I guess that extra two minute wait to tell me he changed his mind was sacrificing too much beauty sleep. (Hint: It's not helping)
If only there had been some way for Q-Bert to have sent me a message before he signed off.
