You are hereRed Dead Redemption is a sequel.
Red Dead Redemption is a sequel.
Who knew?
Well, I kind of knew but it isn't like Rockstar Games is trumpeting it as a sequel. I guess they aren't exactly hiding it either. Still…
This really isn't another Red Dead Redemption post.
It is not! It's about Red Dead Revolver, the prequel to Red Dead Redemption. So there.
I had forgotten that back in May 2004 Rockstar Games had released a game called Red Dead Revolver.
- The calm of the frontier was shattered and a young man's innocence was lost
when he witnessed the brutal murder of his family. Years have passed but the
forged memory and the need for reckoning have not. Now a bounty hunter, you
must journey to uncover the truth and to reap vengeance on those responsible.
You are Red... and this is the Wild West.
Red Dead Revolver was released for the Original Xbox and amazingly enough it's backwards compatible. If you can find it.
I barely remember my original Xbox. Before that we played video games with rocks and sticks – I think that was back before Noir and Swag were even born. My original Xbox console was a wedding present from Snuffy D and Coxxorz. Yes, it was. The perfect gift. Right after the coffee maker.
Now I am not saying rush out and buy it. I recently bought Call of Jaurez 1 to try to get my western fix but for $4.99 I am not sure it was worth it. I do have much better hopes for Red Dead Redemption but this post isn't about that.
Red Dead Revolver was released to reasonable reviews averaging 75% at GameRankings.com.
Rockstar games still has the official website online and if you are interested in a Red Dead Revolver full review you can still read Gamespot's 7.3 out of 10 write up.
I even have some trailers for you:
Red Dead Revolver Trailer #2
Red Dead Revolver Trailer #1
Yes, they are out of order. I'm random that way.
