Road Hazard
Ok, this isn't the first time this has happened, and each time it does I keep meaning to mention it here, but last night I was ambushed, mugged, and otherwise attacked.
Let me start by saying that the terrain around Boulder is interesting. To the west of town, there are the Rockies. To the east is the vast North American prairie. Where one ends, the other begins. There is no transition stage. It goes from dead flat to high peaks. The part of Colorado where most people live is obviously the dead flat part.
So I was driving through the dead flat part last night, when I was, as I said, ambushed, and I mean 'bush' as a literal term. I was jumped by the most unique road hazard I have ever dealt with.
Tumbleweed.
And let me tell you, when 3 or 4 tumbleweeds er, tumble across the road when you're driving 100km/hr, it can freak you out. Fortunately, tumbleweed is not tough. It can't take a hit. But man, it can scare you when you're not ready for it.
It is cool though. I feel like I am driving through a spaghetti western each time it happens. And it is a way better road hazard than squirrels, cats and, um, children.
Those can damage your car.
