Or why you shouldn't ignore the COXXORZ RANDOM E3 PREORDER DEAL of the DAY

Every E3 for the past two years Coxxorz has posted about the E3 preorder deal offered by Best Buy and Future Shop. And I have promptly ignored him. It has taken me a long time to develop the ability to tune him out so I don't like not using it.

However, every fall while I am paying full price for new games and he is walking away with a 30% discount on brand new $59.99 games I end up crying alongside his gloating and mocking laughter. This year for the first time I have availed myself of the Best Buy deal and ended up saving myself $45 total off of three games (two $45 games and one $60 game).

I did discover a few things to be aware of:

1. The astute among you may have noticed that Coxxorz swapped Future Shop and Best Buy around in his Pre-order Deal post. Both of us discovered that Future Shop calculates 30% off as 28.5% off while Best Buy actually calculates 30% off as 30% off. A minor savings but noticeable. So stick with Best Buy.
2. Not all games qualify. I discovered at least one that did not: Skylanders Trap Team. With an $84.99 price tag for the starter kit the 30% off would have been appreciated. Where there is one exception there will most likely be more.
3. The deal is targetted toward the big fall releases but any pre-order date past today will work. One of the things I hated was spending the money now and not seeing any of the games until fall. Two of my games are releasing in June. One next Tuesday. Both of them qualified.
4. 30% off of NEW games. I mean really, think about it.
5. Really minor but Best Buy also has all the deal references and discounts better marked than Future Shop. It may have only been changing the colour of the type but it made it much easier to find.
6. For anyone with a family or multiple Xboxes you can order three copies of the same game and still qualify. It is possible this point is specifically targetted at someone.
