HoC Xbox One Game Recommendation #4: Titanfall
Coming out of the comments and into the limelight
TitanFall was originally further down the recommendation queue until I spotted the Collector's Edition in a local EBGames. For $229! It was in a box so large we would not have been able to fit it in our car. Not that I didn't think of going back and getting the CRV because I totally did think of doing that. This was one massive, huge, gigantic box and I wanted it. Which is why I was crying as I walked away to my suddenly too small car.
I had to read the contents of the box twice to realize that there was no console included. The large sticker price ($229!) was for the included statue. Of a Titan.
Here are some random pictures of the Titan Fall Collector's Edition box:
In case you are wondering the Titan Fall Collector's Edition comes with a massive statue of a Titan which explains the gigantic box.
Contents of the box:
- Collector’s Edition Includes
- An exclusive, individually numbered 18 Titan statue, handcrafted and assembled with over 300 individual parts and battery-powered LED lighting
- Full-size, hardcover art book featuring over 190 pages of rare concept art
- Exclusive full-size schematic poster of the Atlas Titan
- Titanfall Game – Introducing the experience that combines fast-paced multiplayer action with dramatic, cinematic moments lets you enjoy the fiction of the universe without having to leave your favorite game mode
- Art Books
- Atlas Collector's Edition Schematics Poster
- Atlas Titan Video Reveal: Collector’s Edition FAQ; Universe Navigation
And here is a Box Opening video:
Technically the $229 is a sale price.
Gamerankings Score for Titan Fall - 86.71%.
Herd of Cats posted our own review of the PC version written by SeanMCR. Who rage quit.
Available cheaply now as low as $24.99 (just for the game) as it appears Microsoft is trying to give it away. Or make some extra cash off of the secondary sales of DLC.

So why recommend Titanfall? It sucked on the 360 and I can't imagine it being any better on the One. Sure, for $229 I could get a Titan model (and a free kid, apparently), but otherwise, pass. I gave my 360 copy to Prof3ssorM, who doesn't really like it either but hey, free game.
I'll wait for the price to drop more due to limited shelf life.
Which included some really general thoughts on Cod AW, Destiny and NHL 15. Not much, but at least it was something.
I could have, but I believe the entire premise of this series was to recommend games that you did not already have. That is how it started.
By listing those three games as already owned you excluded them from the recommendations.
I consider Destiny and COD: AW as givens and probably would not have included them anyway.
The Xbox One version of NHL 15 would not make it on to any of my recommended lists. I consider it (yet another) insult by EA. The Xbox 360 version is recommended although it might be more practical to just buy NHL 14 again.
