The GTA4 monologues #1
I am confused by Stormblade who complains about how poor the game is but just rocked in Cops and Robbers last night. He not only got the sole kill as a robber (shooting a cop on the freeway in a moving car from a moving car) he also won the cop side by running over the robber's leader in his cop car before Coxxorz and I even found our own rides.
Stormblade, Coxxorz, and I played a round of Team Car Jack and had the distinct pleasure of filing negative feedback (the official kind not the no matchmaking kind) on all three members of the opposing team. All three of us went through the grief of filing.
I have been playing some of the single player. Probably more than most of you as MoriceRevek just got back into the country and had a distinct splash of immersion in the game during a chase scene. While driving after someone he collided into a delivery truck. The delivery truck's back door sprung open and all sorts of boxes spilled out onto the road right in front of me. It caused a unexpected bit of dodging and I was impressed at the efforts required to make this happen. Later during the same chase a similar occurrence had me dodging wildly around a load of logs pouring off of an 18 wheeler as I was crossing one of the big bridges. it was bad enough dodging the other bad drivers with out the added obstacle of their payloads. An interesting twist that I hadn't expected and added to the game play. When I eventually caught up to the guy, he stopped his burning car and got out to continue the chase on foot. As I piled out of my car and turned to face him, his car exploded and catapulted his flaming body across three lanes and over a brick wall into courtyard next to the street. Assassination accomplished.

Cops and Robbers was interesting for sure, although the seemingly random spawn points (cops and robbers spawning a block apart) must be a bug. I venture to say that after trying it a few more times, we may even begin to enjoy it. I certainly look forward to working our way through the list of multiplayer game types to discover our favourites (if any exist).
This guy seems to enjoy the online play quite a bit, although I don't share his enthusiasm for Hangman's Noose mode. I use the term "mode" extremely loosely, as the the entire game type consists of one map. More accurately, one route on one map. It never changes. Always from the airport to the park, and as far as I can tell, there is no way to change this. Weak.
