All right Star Trek fans, this is it: the Holy Grail. Season 1 has been completely remastered in high definition, with some nice digital enhancements (sharper Enterprise shots, sweeter special effects), and it's finally affordable. The best price I've seen until now is $129 (Best Buy), but now you can get it on Amazon.ca for $49.99.
Not good enough? All right, Uncle Coxxorz will take care of you. When you check out, enter the coupon code "MAPNEWNCSAVE", and you'll save another $10!!! But wait, that's not all! Order now, and we'll throw in free shipping, and a second bottle ABSOLUTELY FREE!

Anything that proves the Best Buy is ripping people off.
Have I ranted about Best Buy lately?
That we must purchase it for a dead technology. I bet you can buy movies on Beta for next to nothing as well.
I prefer to waste my money on other worthless products like GTAIV. At least I can trade that in.
Go and find me a beta movie then, and if you can, make sure it still plays and has pristine picture and sound....good luck with that one - oh and buy a beta player too...
Although HD DVD is "dead" it will be supported for years to come by Toshiba and others due to contractual obligations at the very least.
We live in the a different world than when beta was around. If you are equating HD DVD to beta than I guess you equate your DVD collection to VHS - where is VHS now??? Bingo. Everything has a shelf life, and today things last less and less - so get the best you can for the least you can and enjoy it while you can.
My HD DVD purchases are gonna server me for years of enjoyment at a great price. By all means, pay more to buy the it on standard DVD or Shit-Ray where compatibility is still an issue and features are of lesser quality than HD DVD.
With all my savings on HD DVD, buying GTAIV + a few other games to boot will be that much easier!!!!
I DO equate my DVD collection to VHS. I have actually moved my entire DVD collection to MP4 because I saw no point in having the DVDs. I will never buy another DVD, HD-DVD, or SHIT-RAY disk. Why would I? I can buy my movies online, download them and keep them with me whenever I want them. They are now coming out in HiDef online as well.
Fixed media movies are dead. Long live the download!
They just made you pay for the bandwidth to download the movies, as well as offloaded the cost of the storage media to the consumer. All for the same price as a real pre-recorded movie. Hard drive corrupt? Too bad... download again...
you have Raided drives. The cost of storage media is nothing compared to the cost of buying a DVD.
~$20 for a DVD (say, 8 gigs if it's dual layered)
~$0.50/gig for Hardrives, 8 * $0.50 = $4.00. Frankly that cost is nearly nothing, if you consider you can re-use that same 8 gigs of harddrive space if you burn the movie to blank media ... which cast what? A dollar for a dual layer DVD?
I don't know what places like iTunes charge for a movie though ...
You think there will be a discount for downloading your movie? I guarantee you it will cost the same as a DVD, plus your storage costs on top of that. Then training your wife & kids how to use your HTPC or gaming console to access your computer remotely, blah blah blah. I'm not even going to touch the DRM issues.
FYI: Did you know that all HD-DVD's are region-free?
They're not worth anything anyway.

Although it's only $28.99. You'll need to add an $11 movie to your order to get free shipping.
only prob is that that promo code is only good for .com and NOT .ca ... there's always a catch with an infomercial... especially ah la COXXORZ :)
It's good for .ca ONLY (note the word "MAPLE" in the code). But I think it was intended as a promo for first-time users only, which may explain why it doesn't work for you. I tried to order something else with that code after, and got the same error. Just create a new login for Amazon, and you're good to go. You may just need to enter a new shipping address (office?) to make it work.
