ARK: Survival Evolved arriving on Xbox One December 16th
As part of the Xbox Game Preview program
The preview version of ARK: Survival Evolved will be arriving on the Xbox One December 16th. It's initial price will be $34.99 which is a reduced price for early adopters. This is a Beta version of the game. The full, official release will be arriving later in 2016.
This game was announced previous to Farcry Primal and seems to follow the same themes. It is a multiplayer survival game with dinosaurs.
Check out the trailer after the break to see the bionic 'Tek' T-Rex skin which is one of the early adopter rewards.
Info stolen from the links listed below:
- the Xbox version will have the same content as the existed Steam version (updates won't come as often - daily updates are not unusual for the Steam version)
- you can run a dedicated server (as well as non-dedicated) but you need a separate Xbox One and an additional Gold account (non-dedicated server limited to 4 players)
- 30-45 FPS
- preview price is $34.99 on the Xbox Store (Steam price is $32.99 right now)
- Steam Early Access version has sold over 2 million copies.
- one of my favourite web artists wrote a post on the kind of fun you can have in ARK: Survival Evolved.
- the Xbox Game Preview version of ARK comes with Limited Edition Xbox-Exclusive Founder's content," Rapczak added, "including an unlockable bionic 'Tek' T-Rex skin, ARK Founder's Hat skin, and ARK Founder's Trophy."
- if you buy the cheaper preview version you automatically own the full game when it is released. You do not have to buy it again or pay to upgrade.
Studio Wildcard a has also made available an image of the Xbox One controller layout:
I have to keep Rolly from seeing this or I will never get near my Xbox One again.

From the Xbox Wire:
“Xbox Live provides a fair, secure, and robust multiplayer experience that minimizes cheating and reduces the barriers to playing with your friends,” Rapczak told us. “You can also host your own 50+ player ARK server on a second Xbox One – which is something that would normally require an expensive PC server and a lot of management headaches. The gamepad control scheme is also much improved over the PC version. ARK on Xbox One will be the smoothest gameplay experience for the majority of gamers… especially for the price!”
So how mad will Rolly be when I buy a second Xbox One that isn't for him?
Oh, and I think we found our next LAN party game. Everyone can come.
Hmm. Maybe I could use this to justify getting one for Arundel ...
...an extra Xbox Live Gold membership.
And possibly an internet upgrade!
Maybe we could crowd source this through HoC somehow although I do not see that ending well.
Are you buying it? If so, I could probably be talked into it.
You just talked me into it.
