You are hereGoodbye CR-V, goodbye
Goodbye CR-V, goodbye
A member of the Clan longer than most of you, it was time to say goodbye
Left sitting, plateless, in the local garage's lot. It was a sad moment for me. Our 1999 CR-V had been with us since new. A long time to be with a car. I had learned it idiosyncrasies and it had learned mine. But the most recent series of noises ("hey that's new") had proven to push the repair bill and reliability past the point of practicality. Oil spraying all over the engine compartment, the constant gas smell, no horn, failing power steering and the odd clunking noise every time the four wheel drive tried to kick in. Oh and the stick - the stick whose sole purpose was to whack the starter until it worked.
I have been reassured that it would not be scrapped and would be passed on to another owner. That one thing kept me going through the parting.
The CR-V did manage to give us an extra two weeks (with the stick) to allow us to properly pick out a replacement.
A used 2009 Nissan Murano from the same lot where we left the CR-V. This after touring most of Ottawa checking out possible replacements. It was good to do the research but still. We bought the replacement from a lot within walking distance. A short walk.
Right here is where I was planning on adding a list of the CR-V's appearances on the site except my first search ("CRV") came up with fourteen separate hits so I decided it was too much work. Feel free to search yourself.

I was beginning to think it would be around forever. Will be weird pulling up to the house and not seeing it.
I will miss the house completely as I used it as a landmark
Good choice on the Murono btw
