And I mean first overall, not first in class

Audi R10 TDI: Purchase financing starting at 18.9% for 72 monthsAudi R10 TDI: Purchase financing starting at 18.9% for 72 monthsHere are some simple tips on how to finish first in GRID's 24-hour Le Mans. Well one tip really:

  • Blow $20,000,000 on a single car. An Audi R10 TDI.

  • That's it. Really.
  • Oh, and its fast. Freaking fast.
  • Previously long straightaways aren't so long at 250 mph.
  • The Audi R10 TDI's grip is rated really high. Panicked turns at 250 mph demonstrate that grip is over rated.
  • I spent slightly more than $20,000,000 as I bought my Audi R10 TDI on eBay and picked a previously winning car.
  • Spending a $6,000,000 plus signing bonus on my Team Mate Ryan Young meant that team Herd of Cats finished First and Second overall. Sponsorship cash was $336,000 and $284,000

I won a total of $9,585,000 cash for the win. $2,000,000 for individual win and $6,000,000 for the Team win.

Plus three new sponsorship offers: $200,000 from Bang & Olufsen for placing at least 2nd, $130,000 from Acer for placing at least 2nd and $70,000 from Max Power for placing at least 3rd.

Previously my maximum sponsorship cash was $336,000. A 1st place finish can now net me $830,000. More than my previous total alone from one sponsor! (Bang & Olufsen as major sponsor pays double – $400,000).

    Other GRID tips:

    • Finish one region first. This gets you higher tier sponsorship levels that apply to the lower tier races in other regions.
    • Finishing an entire region opens up the Global region and all three tiers of the other regions whether you have previously unlocked them or not.
    • Don't be afraid to put more money into your team mate. It pays itself back in Team wins.
    • Drifting (which sucks).
      • Use your Handbrake. Use your Handbrake. Use your Handbrake.
      • Getting close to the flag means drifting before the flag and getting the nose of your car as close to it as possible.
      • Toyota Corolla GT-S AE86 is the car to use (initially anyway)
    • You get sponsorship offers based on your podium standings:
      • 1st gets you all three new sponsorship offers
      • 2nd only gets you two of the three available new sponsorship offers
      • 3rd only gets you one of the three available new sponsorship offers
      • You can compete in an event again and unlock the missing sponsorships by placing higher. I haven't figured out yet how to discover which sponsorships you are missing although I assume there is a way.
    • You get a trophy icon on your event only if you get onto the podium.
    • I win Touge racing by forcing the other driver to crash into me. No its not easy (and yes, its cheating) but in gets him a 2 sec or 4 sec penalty time so when you follow him you only need to stay remotely close (and not crash into him)
    • If you cheap out purchasing cars on eBay you get what you pay for. The cars with the winning records really do make a difference and are worth the extra money.
