The perfect lap cat moves on
She went out the way she lived. Sitting on our laps.
She came into our live at 8 years old and started with us as a grumpy kitty. She never totally grew out of the grumpy but she was always friendly with family. She didn't like kids yet she loved Roland. She slept with him and constantly joined him on the red reading chairs.
She always looked serene and dignified until someone threw her a ball. They were her kryptonite and turned her into a kitten. A very lively kitten as she chased the ball around the room or batted it back down the stairs at you. Her favourite game was to stand at the top of the stairs and whack balls back at you. She was a bit of a ball hog but more of them got returned than you would expect.
She was the ultimate in lap detection. No matter where she was or whether she was asleep or not, she knew as soon as someone sat down in one of the red reading chairs. You would hear her scrabble from wherever she was into the living room and run up to the chair. Take her time lining up the jump/climb and then, instant lap kitty. She was a tease though, if both chairs were occupied she would jump up on one and then snub that lap owner as she jumped across the drum table onto the second available lap.
Good bye Patches. We love you and we miss you.
