Okay, this comes with a big caveat: you will likely need an original Xbox.
Factory Direct is selling Xbox Live 12-month subscription cards for $44.99 (original and 360). However, there is a coupon available that lowers the price of the original Live card to just $29.99, both in-store and online.
However, as many of you compulsive hoarders may already know, the original Live cards don't work with the 360. So if you've just bought an Xbox 360 but haven't transferred your account over yet, this is ideal for you. Otherwise, you'll need an Xbox 1 to recover your gamertag, apply the subscription code, and recover back to the 360.
It's a few minutes work, but saves you $20. Valid until March 31, 2009.

Apparently it is possible to enter the code on xboxlive.com. No need for a console at all!
Those that still have their original un-modded x-boxes can lend it to members that don't and would like to use this process.
I'll gladly lend one of my old Xboxes to any clan member who needs one. But you have to help me dig it out of the basement.
