Not fooling anyone

So the GF and I head over to see Graybush and HardW00D at Bleeker on Saturday (I don't have a witty pet name to give her like DP does because she's likely to be around long enough to have her own HoC name when she wants one ...). I've convinced her that what we should do is give my brother and his fiancé (who happens to be my GF's best friend) an HD TV to have at their house in the Laurentians for their wedding gift.

Her doubts started a day or two before going to look at TVs. She told me she didn't think my brother's fiancé watched much TV. I said that of course she did and they watched movies together regularly. She relented, but did mention what I feared she would figure out. She said, "You know, you are in that house more than they are." I had already planned my answer for this and said, "True, but they only watch movies when they are there."

I could see doubt of her face, but she let it drop.

So, we arrive at Bleeker. Graybush tells us that HardW00D has set up the two most likely candidates in the testing room (this is the official name for the gaming room they all goof off in when there are no customers). We walk in and there are two TVs ... and an XBox 360. One of the TVs has COD4 on it. My GF looks at me accusingly and asks why would an XBox be connected. I say that the XBox video requirements are so much higher than standard TV that it made sense to test it to gauge the best picture quality.

Unfortunately, my GF is not a bimbo. This did not fly. "You are picking this out for YOU!" she said.

My witty comeback was something along the lines of "Um, Uh, Well ..."

She informed me that I could get the TV if I wanted, but she was going to do something on her own. Of course, this was after she had told Graybush she wanted one of the TVs for herself!
