Game starts in 5… 4… Oh, now it’s 2 vs 3. Someone leaves. Game starts in 2… two more leave and now it’s just us. Game start? Yes. Let’s play single-player team deathmatch.

This is most frustrating when the server has no sense of team balance, forcing you to play lopsided matches game after game.
Some games do dish out an XP or whatever penalty if a player quits a game early. This is great, but it should go further. At its core level, Xbox Live should track countdown quitters and consistently match them against other players of the same dropout rating. The only way to cure it is a taste of their own medicine.
