Ikea and Blackwalt discuss As-is

By Blackwalt - Posted on 20 August 2007

As mentioned in my blog yesterday I finished setting up Rolly's new bed.

It turned out to have a fairly noticeable crack in one of the ends. We had purchase As-is and final sale saving $150 bucks. But choose the bed marked "packaging" and checked carefully the content of the damaged box.

Turns out the split wood was in the undamaged box. Figures.

So I went to Ikea expecting nothing but a "sorry, as-is" but prepared to point out that I could have saved $250 on a version marked as damaged as opposed to packaging damaged.

However, Ikea checked as-is for another version and were going to pull the part for me. When no more were there they offered to take the bed back or to take another $100 off.

So ten minutes later Guba was busy trying to spend an Ikea $114 gift card. And we didn't have to deal with a screaming Rolly when we tried to take his big bed away from him...

A good compromise and another happy customer.
