Yes, from a technical, modern point of view, this game isn't very good (from the demo I played at least), but that's not the point.
Gearbox games themselves have said that they wanted to keep the original vision of DNF that 3D Realms was going for. And remember this game was originally supposed to be released in 1997!
It's old school. As long as you keep that in mind you will find it awesome.
I also love all the useless crap you can do, like peeing in a urinal, turning on the hand dryer, punting an aliens eye ball, etc.
