Happy Programmer Day!

By MauriceRevek - Posted on 13 September 2011

Woohoo! A holiday just for us! And what do we do on this day? Why go to work and programm. Wait a minute. Should we not have the day off and be able to do cool stuff to celebrate? Like upgrade my OS, reinstall my drivers, compile my kernel (not, this is not meant as a kinky double-entendre).

I'd like to read more about this alleged Day.

Also, the significance of the above byte (255?).

The significance of the above number (255) is that it is the highest order of 2 number before 356, which is the total number of days in a non leap year. Since the calandar is 1 based (Jan 1) and the binary counter is 0 based, they picked the 256th day of the year since 255 is the 256th value when you include 0.

365 right? Just checking. The whole Y2K thing makes sense now.

It all makes sense now indeed.

I wonder if anything you work on actually does anything.

Oh, but you're on contract with the government. Never mind.
