Turtle Beach Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Ear Force Delta
... or "WANT" for short.
Our good friends at Turtle Beach have announced a limited edition MW3 version of their popular 7.1 surround sound gaming headset. The Ear Force Delta shares the same form factor and premium 50mm speakers as the X-41's, but that's where the similarity ends.
The Ear Force Delta's are all black, with "Call of Duty" logo embossed on the headband and MW3 insignia on the base unit (nothing that can't be fixed with a Sharpie). But besides the sleek new look, the best improvements are on the inside. Kind of. You will no longer need to be tethered to your controller to hear your buddies banter while you go for a drink/snack/pee, as the Delta's finally boast Bluetooth connectivity. Not just Bluetooth, but Dual Pairing Bluetooth. So you can chat wirelessly, listen to streaming music, then answer your cel phone to find out where Rolly injured himself, all without missing a beat in-game.
If that's not enough to tempt you, there's also customizable game and voice audio presets, as well as voice prompts. That's right, the headset will tell you when the battery is low, using the Call of Duty guy's actual voice. Blast Limiter lets you cap the volume of things like explosions. Chat Boost automatically increases chat volume as game volume gets louder. Noise cancellers block unwanted distractions (unless she's standing in front of you).
Yes, these headphones have it all. In fact, the only thing I can find fault with is the new "Voice Morphing" feature, which I thought wasn't allowed by Microsoft. Either way, the last thing we need is more people sounding like Squeakers.
Did I mention that they come in a nifty collectible case?
I'm not kidding...
Available October 27 at EB Games. Expected to retail for $300.
