MW3 Social interaction
Good god I am looking forward to this game. So now, I will be able to use an ipad/Iphone app to do my class customizations...or the Elite website...outside of the game. The next time I play, bingo, all my changes are done. This actually really rocks. There are many times I'm at work or just surfing the web on my ipad and I'll read some MW strategies or just think some sh*t up....and now, I'll be able to sit on the crapper with my ipad and tweek my classes!
Pure. F*cking. Genius.
I know some of you won't be impressed (Stormblade...i keed i keed) but Every new piece of info we get about this game makes it more epic.
I don't much care about the intergration with Facebook....as all the people who I want to see if I'm online or not are on XBL....my boss is on my Fb...I don't need him seeing when I'm playing the game on a sickday ;)
BTW....you're welcome for the visual of me sitting on the crapper with my ipad xD

was this you?
LOL...no, I wouldn't pay that much for any video game, ever. I think $100 is the most I've ever spent on a game. That was MW3.
There is nothing "social" about posting stuff on Facebook, twitter, etc. It's narcissism, nothing else.
As far as being able to change class customizations/other things from your phone is a good idea, I must admit.
I know why you don't...
I really don't get this whole "social" aspect
because you're socially inept.
So what?
On a side note....I was on XBL last night on the MW3 page...and the details they provided about Elite said they would be releasing MONTHLY map packs for 9 months.
Do the math....9 month at 800MS points...let's say they're cheaper at 400 MS points...totals 3600 points, or $52 for the upcoming releases on XBL.
You're crazy NOT to buy Prestige.
Just saying.
That's $26, assuming you stock up on those sweet half-price points cards right now.
Heck, you could even get Elite for half price too, assuming they make it available as a download afterwards (which they obviously will). And you don't care about all the bits of paper in the Hardened edition.
and Activision keeps saying that they are not going to monetize multiplayer.
Although this is perilously close to buying an incomplete game, and being charged for the remaining bits as they're completed.
really? how so? You get the game and all the mp functionality. You are paying for new DLC....you're just paying up front for first in line access to the DLC.
Or are you saying DLC in fact is evidence of incomplete gaming experience? Remember, it's MS that pushed the whole model of DLC to game developers as a tool to increase revenue.
For me, ELITE is a new model all together. There are things they do on the elite website they simply can't do on XBL or in game. Same goes for the iphone/Android app. These apps can't tie into the live gaming experience, so you need a website connection. Those things costs money to develop, test and support. Above and beyond the cost to develop the game itself. It's only natural it will cost money, at the start. The hardcore fans are always the ones to "pay" for these extra features/tools, cause they're hardcore fans.
Where as with BF3, you need to pay extra to get the complete game. you can't trade or sell it, all you're giving away is a single player game.
Which, by the way, since I brought up BF3....I rather liked the single player campaign as a whole. The graphics are glitchy, there is some weirdness....but as a whole, I liked the story, the voice acting is top notch, and some of the missions were actually challenging. There is more boring, repetitive sections I could do without, but I wouldn't say the single player campaign was "garbage" or 1 out of 5. I'd give it a 3.
I would rather pay for additional features like Elite offers (the phone stuff sounds cool) that gives me value for my additional money (MW3), than pay a ransom to the publisher to make the game whole again (when buying used) (BF3). That's fairly obvious.
But a map pack a month means players with the basic game could (mathematically) end up with less than HALF the multiplayer content available by the end of the year (this is assuming 2 maps per pack monthly for 9 months, on top of the base 16 maps). I'm all for DLC, I just think they're pushing the limits of what people are willing to accept as the "whole game" vs "additional content". I would have put that limit at 50/50, but they're clearly emulating the razor/blades model here.
So you too can get extra gear without earning it. I think that aspect of it really stinks. I can imagine we will be seeing Mountain Dew inside of the game in a large number of places.
ug, I forgot that part too....
I forgot about that. Although the abysmal team balancing is rendering that a moot point.
Of course, it would be tough to balance the teams very quickly because of all the statistics you would have to employ.
