Battlefield Heroes - and it's free!

ShackNews has a story on the new Battlefield game – Battlefield Heroes.

It will have a cartoony style similar to Teamfortress 2 and will depend on in-game ads and micro-transactions for funding.

Look for more information in the next issue of Games for Windows.

I mean, will I see a commerical for pepsi while it's loading? Or will a guy just be drinking a can when he talks to me in the game?

After experiencing a humiliating death, why waste all of that time staring at the screen watching your friends continue to play without you. Now you can enjoy some well placed adds and support the game you love.

For example:

  • After dying, you find your self being tea bagged by JackOff..... Err I mean Karloff. Thanks to his crotchless pants, you are forced to look at his dangling scrotum. Now rather than seeing his drooping sac, you can see an advert for Pepsi, Coka Cola or even Ho-Ho's. (No... Never Oh-Henry. The potential for gross out effect is just too high. Karloff dumping an Oh-Henry on your chest is just disturbing)
  • In the lobby, while the game counts down until the next map starts, you cann watch some adds for the next expansion pack with additional maps and music tracks.
  • The possibilities are just endless.

"There's something here for all types of players--be it our core Battlefield fans or casual gamers."

    Translation:

"We wrecked what you liked about Battlefield in order to try to entice a couple more people to buy it. We're stupid that way."
