Really bad movie night - Night 2
Bring on Jackie Chan!!!
I considered Q-Bert's idea of Sex and the City, but I have never really found what little I've seen of that show to be entertaining and Sarah Jessica Parker gives me the creeps.
So, Robocop looked interesting and it has probably been 20 years since I last saw it, but I just wasn't in the mood. Browsing over the collection, I ran into Shanghai Noon and Shanghai Knights. I took them down and showed them to Half-Pint, who rrowled in disgust and asked to be let out. Everyone's a critic.
I settled down with my laptop and the movies and proceeded to fill my mind with absolute drivel. I mean, who thinks up these things? The plots for both were ludicrous. The fight scenes had moments, but on the whole were a little over the top. I also couldn't help feeling like it was a little odd that Jackie seemed to be outmatched in both movies and won either by luck or with intervention. Not what I expect from Jackie Chan.
The flippant use of real names was a humourous, if equally ludicrous as the plot. Wyatt Erp, John Wayne, Charlie Chaplin and Arthur Conan Doyle to use a few. Owen Wilson inventing the name Sherlock Holmes from two names on a clock was predictable.
The scene in the first movie where Owen is dreaming that he is being ravished by three beautiful women when he is actually being picked at by buzzards was good. Unfortunately they repeated a similar scene in the second movie, which by then had lost it's entertainment value.
Half-Pint came in during the second movie and was so disgusted he kept walking across the computer keyboard to try to stop the pain.
Not sure why I prevented him.

Well, any of us except Blackwalt, that is.
The last flick I consider a true Jackie Chan movie is Rumble in the Bronx, and even that is pushing it. But at least he was still doing his own stunts then. If you're ever in the mood to see the real deal, try renting (or borrowing from a true movie connoisseur) Supercop, Police Story, or Drunken Master.
No I didn't!!!
Who am I.
I distinctly remember who am I!!!!!!
