EA warns, ‘releasing new IP this late in console cycle is a mistake’
- In a GI.biz interview, Gibeau stated, "The time to launch an IP is at the front-end of the hardware cycle, and if you look historically the majority of new IPs are introduced within the first 24 months of each cycle of hardware platforms."
I think I understand what he is trying to say I just think someone in EA's PR department should muzzle all the higher up to stop them from making inflammatory statements. Users and gamers already hate EA enough.

Other developers, or those working for EA? Sounds like scare tactics, which means they're trying to put out a new IP before the new system hits, and don't want any competition.
But this talk of a "golden age" worries me the most. Golden age for who? EA?! You can bet that doesn't translate into good news for gamers.
there are arguments for and against this.
Releasing a new IP now would be cheaper and your dev teams would know how to handle the SDK a lot better than on a new system.
But releasing a new IP at the near end of a console cycle probably means it won't sell as well because most people will save their money for the new console (or not, but there is a risk).
And if SeanmcR6 is correct (which I doubt) and the "Xbox 720" gets released this year, would you want to publish a new IP on a legacy system?
It's more about timing than anything.
