When is our next LAN party ? I have the IOS version, but I am willing to purchase the PC version too. I will test it on VirtualBox+XP for the Mac-heads out there.
Well, that's a "maybe" for VirtualBox+XP on the x86 Macs. It's not reliable. So, next test is Boot Camp.
I have version 7.
I was able to get it working fine with Wineskin Winery. I can even run multiple instances. So, we have a Native OSX solution that runs fine.
More than one ship?
So, each instance can be a "client" to the server. So you could have Helm and Main Screen on your dual-monitor setup.
And a server can "run" many ships, so to answer your question directly: Yes, if you somehow want 2 ships to control from your mouse...
Technically the server can run more than one ship but with one ship the server runs as a server and as the bridge/viewscreen of the one ship.
In a multiple ship setup the server becomes just the server and each ship needs a dedicated PC to run the bridge/viewscreen.
Not a big deal but we have to arrange the extra hardware.
Possibly you can run three instances as server, ship 1, ship 2. That would be interesting to watch. Particularly when your machines bursts into flames and we have to test our real-life damage control skills...
I have 5 servers gathering dust downstairs that I can install XP on. Just missing screens.
The iPad and iPhones are compatible with the XP version, and can easily run as a server (yes even the iPhone). Running the iPad as the server or a Main Screen and displaying to the Apple TV works great.
I tried most stations on the iPad, and only Helm and Weapons have any weirdness. So all others stations are great on the iPad.
I also have 4 Macs in the house that can run Artemis via Wineskin. So, just with the hardware I have in the house I can almost equip 2 crews.
But I don't have a projector ...
The day before you went all wacky with the Artemis thread.
It's sad how predictable you can be...
PS- Thanks Graybush!
And we can use the living room TV as another main screen.
He's overdue for a basement flood anyway.
Ctrl + Alt + Del
or F://// or whatever it is?
Cuz I don't think I wanna lug my Mac Pro around just for this.
PPC... my god, join the 90s...
But since one is my wife's and the other is the size of a Cray, that only leaves the old spare Battlefield 1942 iMac in the bedroom.
that noticed the "head of engineering" was wearing Green Lantern's Power Ring? A bit too much geek there... I didn't think it was possible... but that was a bit too much geek.
Yes you are.
carry on then...
And instead of taking all day to set up, like a regular LAN party, it would take you guys all week!
The video seemed kinda long, but there was enough laughs to keep me watching to the end.
Seems like it would be hard to find that many people willing/able to do it. Did you have a full crew?
yep,
In fact we had more than enough
Next time we are going to try the pvp multiplayer.
Ie 2 or more crews.
It will be my second LAN party
Nt
Next game, I'm in. Big time.
How did you get it to work on the diePad?
or is that sarcasm?
There is an iPad/iPhone version of Artemis, compatible with the Windows version no less. $2.99 I think.
I have it running on my iPhone and iPad right now, checking it out. It's way fun to put the server on the iPhone, and have the iPad as the Main Screen, and then Mirror the iPad to the Apple TV. I can see us playing this game easily with 5 or 6 iPads and an Apple TV.
There is an iPad version but no iMac version
n/t
You could get the Windows version to run in Wine.
"downloaded"
Are you sure your can get it out of the diePad?
But I was going to leave that for someone else. I'm above making sophomoric references to "the captain's log", etc.
Or does the navigator look like Guba.
Although I'm pretty sure she'd be in command, not a science officer.
I wonder if I would be suited for the role?
Do you own a Green Lantern Power Ring??
If they don't mind you finding all the flaws in the ship's design and rewiring it during a battle, that is.
