Digital Cameras
Time to generate some discussion.
Since we are mostly all geeks here, I would like to ask what people know about digital cameras.
Preferrably what are some of the better cameras out there, right now? (Provide links if possible please)

You probably didn't even receive your first paycheck and it's already spent on gadgets! No wonder you wanted to be in BC, far from your family so nobody keeps tabs on tyou...
I haven't bought it yet. I am actually waiting for my first paycheck before I do. (Not that I can't afford to buy it now)
Secondly, there is nothing wrong with gadgets. Although, I don't have Q-bert or Revek around to come with me to go buy it ... so that might prove to be a challenge. Going on my own, all by myself, to make a purchase. That might be a good thing though, since it would make them both jealous and they would probably buy one too :)
Revek probably needs a new camera too for his 'collection'
There's always Shoppers Drug Mart. Seriously, if you've been collecting Optimum points regularly (20x Bonus points events, etc.), you could easily get a new digital camera with points alone at the next bonus redemption event!
I went to Cosco to buy the camera. A palette of cameras might be coslty.
Now that I think about it ... how many cameras could you fit on a standard palette???
"...if the full RGB color palette is truecolor, there are 16,777,216 different possible colors". So a "palette" of digital cameras would probably set you back about 3,200,000,000$CDN.
If you meant a pallet or "skid", then you are looking at about 1219mmx1016mm surface, and 1000kg capacity. The Powershot A590IS box I have here is 170mmx230mmx85mm and weights in at about 1kg. You could put 30 boxes per "layer", and since you usually don't load a pallet more than 2 meters high, then that would limit you at about 23 "layers". So a pallet would have about 690 Powershots on it (for 690kg, so you don't reach your weight limit...). That's about 138,000$CDN.
Probably cheaper to go with a pallet, than a palette...
What about if I needed a pallet of palettes of cameras?
For a pallet of rainbows?

I am liking the look an specs on the Coolpix S51c (although the regular [non 'c']) whould be fine too, since I don't know if I even care for WiFi enabled camera. Probably just adds another useless 100 bucks or something.

This site seems like the ultimate place to go :)

How's this for helpful:
Canon PowerShot A590 IS
I just bought one for my mother. Small package, 8 Mega pixels, 4x digital zoom, Image Stabilizer.
Has a viewfinder, which is now as rare as Pope poop.
Bought it at Futurehop for $199.99 plus taxes.
Takes regular SD cards.
Here's a review
Where is a good place to buy a camera then? I would assume not Futureshop.
It should be your speed too...
Ironically enough, stay away from Kodak and Polaroid offerings, at least in the point-and-shoot category. Also be aware that Sony cameras use their proprietary memory (surprise surprise), which costs more than the common formats. And Olympus seems to like XD memory, which is harder to find card readers for. Midrange ($150-$250) cameras are so feature-rich and such high resolution these days, it really just comes down to form factor and brand loyalty. Just make sure you get at least 3x optical zoom.
See that is the type of useful information I was looking for. Unlike QBert and Revek. Thanks.
I gave you a very clear description as to what a digital camera was.
I gave you an actual model and a review!
