Don't buy MS Points cards at Loblaws
I thought I was being smart using my PC Points until...
Me: "Wait? Why are you charging me more than $40 for the MS Cards?"
Them: "Taxes."
Me: "Umm, they are gift cards. You shouldn't be charging taxes on gift cards. I will being paying taxes when I use them on my Xbox."
Them: (after checking with a manager) "No that's the price."
So, I did get them to understand that they shouldn't be charging taxes, however I could not get them to not charge taxes.
And while I will still buy groceries at Loblaws I think I have given up on their electronics department.
They are training me to shop elsewhere.

In short, looks like MS-Points will be double-taxed. So keep all your receipts so you can claim a reimbursement when they finally fix this.

It is supposed to be considered a gift card since "cash for cash"
I think where the confusion starts was the original point system.
