Prince: Guitar God
In the spirit of Guitar Hero and Rock band, I would like to share a video of a truly amazing guitarist, Prince.
You heard me. It's a little known fact that Prince can play the guitar with the best of them.
Skip to about 3:30 to see Prince's solo. Try doing that with a 5 button guitar.

is there nothing Prince can't do? lol
And his clarinette
and need to get out more or listen to something different.
n/t
Even shredding got its origins from Flamenco...
That he actually checked his ego long enough to be seen on stage with other musicians. Although he did almost fall off while trying to upstage Tom Petty.
Anyway, anybody can play a guitar, but if you want to see REAL skillz, you have to use a real INSTRUMENT:
He really goes crazy at the end.
I am impressed...
At first I thought this was going to be a coxxorz joke.
Great song (on of my favorites). Very well progressed.
Thanks for sharing.
Well it WAS going to be a joke, then I remembered this ukulele phenom.
Well yeah since most people can only stand to listen to it for a short while. It ranks up there with accordion music. After enough drinks you can tolerate it.
You guys know nothing about Music
Tony Mcalpine depicted in this video taught Joe Satriani, Chris Poland and a slew of others.
He also released a boot leg album called "...Who??"
Which he basically mimicked all the top guitarists including bug not limited to:
Yngwie Malmsteen
Steve Vai
Joe Satriani
Kerry King
Stevie Ray Vaughn
Eric Clapton (which in my opinion is the most overrated guitarist)
Chris Poland
Kirk Hammet
Just to name few
TONY MACALPINE Vision

Also I am quite glad you guys started this thread because it made me see how great a guitarist he really is
Here is a link to a slew of his stuff

If he was in Guitar Hero there would many and I mean many RRODs
LONG LIVE THE UNDERGOUND!!!
Though I will grant you this:
Prince is a musical genius even though I don't like his style nor his music he I will admit he is extremely talented.
But I would not call him a Guitar God
No Shredding there.
But I don't see what that has anything to do with us knowing nothing about music.
I probably should have phrased it differently
I am huge supporter of 'underground music' at least until the sell their souls *ahem metallica*
but be honest have you heard of him until now?
If you have I apologize for my ignorance
I do recognize his name.
...I was trying to make is
95% of the population is celebrity obsessed their world revolves around hollywood which is very sad.
The same goes for music, people only know the 'big names', 'mainstream crap' that is played on the radio or on MTV over and over again.
I may have been a little harsh with my remark I should not prejudge the individual based on my prejudices of society so I apologize for that.
It just drives me up the wall when people laugh at me because I never heard of someone like Justin Timberlake.
Claiming that he is a 'musical genious', please he is heartthrob praying mindless little barbie dolls (not that there is anything wrong with that) I just don't respect him as a musician because he is not a musician. He is a good entertainer perhaps, but not a musician. At least as far as I know (nor do I care) he doesn't write his own music nor does he play any instruments.
But when I mention someone like MacAlpine their thought is: 'well he is not on the radio so he can't be good'.
Once again I apologize
PS This is why I respect someone like Prince (or whatever he is called now) because he does write his own stuff and he does play a slew of musical instruments. Regardless if I like his style or not.
I can't stand listening to the radio, although I supposed that I am numb to it these days. It's so obvious that almost all the music played on the radio is manufactured on an assembly line (I'm looking at you American Idol) that all the songs sound practically the same.
Sure, if I like a particular artist I might go a read a couple facts about them, but for the most part I don't care about them personally, why should I? If they are a good musician and their music sounds good to me, that's all I care about (well, and in certain cases not selling out too much and being able to have a good live show).
As for the reasons why someone like MacAlpine isn't played on the radio, well there are several but it mostly comes down to money and image. It's pretty sad.
Not to say that all mainstream music is bad though. But in my music collection I'm sure that less than 5% is played on the radio. Although most of my music can't even be found in North America, but that's another story.
That's probably because you listen to Kazakhstanian Techno Trance.
Borat's sister!
Oh, and in your video, that's not really Prince, since there is no bed on the stage...
And I don't doubt Yngwie Malmsteen's skill, but that was 90% shredding.
Prince's solo actually sounded good and had beautiful technique.
Prince's version sounded good and had more style. Playing with one hand is nothing new and he did a crap job at it.
If you guys want to talk about guys who can play guitar, go look at some of the Blues Guitarist out there which you can count Stevie Ray Vaughn as one. Listen to Gary Moore, Guitar Shorty, Buddy Guy and Robert Cray for example.
For something different, listen to Diablo Rojo. They play acoustical guitar, but you will be impressed. They even play Stairway To Heaven, which I normally detest, but it is entertaining to listen to this version.
