HoC review -- Guitar Evolution for the Wii by i-Con products
I want to make a nice review like BlackWalt...
Tombstone data:
Where to get one: http://www.amazon.com/Wii-Guitar-Evolution-Wireless-Nintendo/dp/B001FWLI94
http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?langid=EN&sku_id=0665000FS10114384
Also at Wal-Mart
Manufacturer Website: http://www.i-con-products.com/products/view/81
Cost: $49.99
The PLUS:
- Dual personality firmware: Emulates either a Guitar Hero (WiiMote inside) or RockBand controller (USB dongle)
- Plays nice with original RB2 wireless controllers
- Got some extra controls on the outside that work like a Wii classic controller
- Recognized as an HID on windows, can be used as is with Frets on Fire, and with a Joy2Key hack, on GH3 PC. (This is true for all RB/RB2 controllers)
The MINUS:
- Overdrive/star power switch is a metal bearing inside a little rail. Sometimes they don't register at all. The alternat trigger button is wayyy over at the end and recessed. I prefer GH:WT star power bar which is just behind the strummer switch
- Construction is flimsier than a real RB/GH controller
- Eats four batteries, battery lifetime is okay for now
Verdict:
4 Pintsie Paws out of Five

A guitar controller for the Wii. I wonder if my 5-year-old has any interest.
an frankly, where is the 4 out of 5 paws image ...
It's good because you can get almost any song for it.
