So this may have nothing to do with this linked article, but one of the listed modern videogame clichés is Dual Yield. Apparently it is inserted into games so people like Blackwalt can actually hit something.

Aside from the obvious Blackwalt jab, that's a pretty interesting article. Although there are several key points they missed. Why doesn't anyone here write stuff like that??!!
