A Cornucopia of Crap
Oh, I hated this one. Agathe even heard me say "the only way this episode could get any worse is if West shows up"... and he sure did.
Let's see:
- Resurrecting a main character just because it is convenient. And don't tell me Mohinder actually progressed as a character from that event.
- Killing a character in such an offhand fashion that one wonders why we had to even bother carrying him for 4 episodes.
- Having Parkman torture The Bitch to get Victoria's name in one episode and then the next episode having Adam and Peter just mosey on there with no real cost to themselves.
- Showing the "Corporate Assassin" like a bumbling fool.
- Having Niki shipped out to see her son when they already had a cure for her. Just to have a link to an arc that no one wants to see.
- Getting Hiro to ignore reason and go all Schwarzenegger on Peter.
- Sylar, The Twins, West, Copycat.
The episodes are so disconnected, quality-wise, that one has to wonder if one of the two writers is just "phoning it in" and then another writer has to fix it all in the next episode.
Don't get me started on the fact that Sylar is next to Molly and Parkman is not at the apartment. It's now obvious that Sylar will want to get the healing-blood when he hears about it. I just hope that "resets" him and he will be blank from that moment on and need to acquire new powers.
I am kinda miffed that Adam is reduced to just wanting revenge from the 12. His character should be WAY more complex than that and his need to get the virus should have been independent from a vendetta. He's 400 years old and his character has the same depth as a 10 year-old. Frig, for a second I thought I was watching Highlander II. "If the head comes off the shoulders, that's it." I am willing to blame it on the actor playing Adam, but he's got to be given good material in order to perform properly...

The HRG* resurrection thing has potential, if they play it right. If it was just to explain away the Isaac painting (which has been around since last season, I think), then FAIL. If they use the opportunity for some introspection and allow him to grow as a character (maybe truly change his ways and be a trusted good guy?) then PASS. They will likely just have him following his family in secret for the rest of the season, while hatching another pointless plan. They better have something cool in mind for him.
Well at least she didn't wear a full-on costume. The long-not-awaited debut of Copycat (or Jeanne d'Arc, or whatever they called her) was a spectacular flop. But clearly it was intentionally so, to set up the Nikki/Jessica rescue/asswhooping. THAT should be cool.
Maja's brother was gonna get it sooner or later. I was kind of impressed that they had Sylar trying to talk him out of the picture instead of bludgeoning him at the first opportunity, but that effort was short lived. What I'm looking forward to now is what power he gleaned from the dead brother. Was his ability linked to Maya specifically, or does it have broader power-dampening impliciations (a la Haitian)? It should be cool to discover.
I too was expecting a good cat fight at the beach. Claire's other special power is apparently the ability to produce copious amounts of tears at a moment's notice. She should have been able to get in a couple of shots in her unstable condition. That would have been cool.
Was West in that episode? I think he must be learning invisibility.
Don't give up on Adam just yet. How did he know the exact strain number to go after? There was a brief moment where I thought the 70's Adam was actually the present Adam going back (with Peter's help) to snatch the virus right out of time. That would have made for some darn interesting past-altering path-crossing with Hiro. If only I had faith in the replacement writers to weave something more complex than a Marty McFly romp. Plus, we have yet to determine the real reason Adam is after the virus. Don't forget he's really big on the whole revenging thing (400 years of stewing). Maybe bigger than we expected.
No Parkman! Do they leave Molly at home alone now? I hope they didn't just off him like that, unless Sylar's abilities have really returned. And enough with the damn ticking already, and show us some small sign of progress.
P.S.: Nice use of the lady's blood to write the Kensei symbol. Very cool.
P.P.S.: Couldn't they find someone more Sulu-looking to play young Mr. Nakamura?
*The acronym HRG (Horn Rimmed Glasses) actually appeared in the ExpressVu guide last week.
Chances are there are no actual writers involved in this one, since they are all on strike, and it was the producers or directors that strung everything together to get an episode out.
Maybe you will treated to a "Dalas" moment where one of the characters will wake and and Say "I had the strangest dream" and this entire season will be wipped out as if it sever happened.
This certainly would never happen in the comic book world. Nope. Never. Comic book characters never come back fromt he dead at the drop of a dime. Certainly not in Marvel. You know, I always wondered if they chose the name Phoenix for Marvel Girl at the time when they first changed her because they new she would come back from the dead , what was it, 25 times?

I constantly hope that will happen regarding your writing....
So why would blowing off his head kill him? I just don't get it.
I hate Sylar
Maya (Maja, who the hell cares) is a total retard. One would think that we was some hot bimbo blonde, problem she isn't hot and not blond.
I hate Sylar
Oh poor Hiiro, hasn't his father taught him anything. Anger blinds your judgement, which it has clearly done to him.
I hate Sylar
Uhh, about the only good thing to say about this episode was the great potential of a wicked cat fight between Elle and Claire. Christ that would have made the last 5 shitty episodes worthwhile.
Finally, I really hate that god damned Sylar.
PS. Oh, good job on trying to kick asses Bruce Lee style CopyCat. FAILED
You gotta get them in the head. That's pretty much a universally accepted axiom.
My question is: how does Adam know this? He seems to have kept his okay. Maybe he's offed healers in the past?
Peter had a piece of glass in his head. Healed.
HRG got a bullet in the head. Healed.
Claire got a broken neck. Healed.
The writer just watched Highlander and had no other ideas.
In Highlander, you gotta take the head right off. Same with certain vampire movies. And I'm pretty sure a shotgun to head at close range is not a healable injury. I know you'll say that in at least 2 cases now, death has been a healable injury... but in one case, a piece of glass had to be removed from the brain before healing started.
Which begs the question... how is an IV drip supposed to work when the person has no circulation?
When did sylar become some gay psycologist. I really hate him. Must continue wathcing.
I haven't read any of the above ... since I am in the middle of watching it. I would like to state one thing. There seems to be Sylar in this episode and I wanted to gouge out my eyes.
