Call of Duty Elite App is here!

Those of you waiting with bated breath for the ability to track your progress in MW3 while sitting on the toilet will be pleased to hear this: Activision has finally released the iOS app they promised.

This handy app allows you to track your Modern Warfare 3 multiplayer stats, formulate strategies by reviewing recent matches, edit custom classes, and stalk other players from the comfort of your loo.

The app mirrors the look of the console and website versions of Call of Duty Elite, but - pay attention here Activision/Infinity Ward/Whoever - thankfully has a far better interface. So far it seems to do everything they advertise, and even brings back some missing features like Nemesis and flag captures tracking. And it's easy to push your player modifications to the console where you still have the option to decline any changes. I like the ability to track challenges, for some reason.

What it doesn't do is let you track the popular daily/weekly challenges. It would also be nice to be able to enlist in Lone Wolf Operations and Events, and see what's coming up. Maybe even a reminder feature to let you know when an event you've signed up for is about to start? But these are just wish list items. The one thing I find curiously missing is the lack of any sort of descriptions for the tracked challenges. While some are obvious what they're for - like "Knife Veteran III" - many have cryptic names like "Heads Up!" and "Wargasm" and "Crab Meat".

It will be interesting to see if you can make changes to your Custom Classes while playing the game, and simply accept the update when the round ends. With the kludgy game interface, there often simply isn't enough time to do so between rounds. This is something Seanmcr should test for us. Or better yet, some unemployed guy.

The Call of Duty Elite app weighs in at 14MB, and is available now on iTunes for free.

aaaaaaand it doesn't work "\

SIGH

If you go in and try to "track" challenges....you are supposed to click on the little white targets...the spinning wheel comes up and then the target turns yellow. Indicating that you are tracking that challenge. In the top right hand corner, you have a tracked challenge shortcut....so you can go right to your tracked challenges.

Unfortunately, it only lets me track one item. As soon as I click other items...the spinning wheel comes up but then goes back to white. All I ever seem to get is a single tracked challenge.

With ALL that money, you would think Activision could/should output pretty solid software....

I had 4 tracked challenges (done through the website), and all 4 showed up in the app. Didn't try adding any others yet.

Update: Added one challenge to my tracked list, but spinning wheel of forever when adding a second. Fail.
