Did Sony just make the Xbox One slightly more appealing in Canada?
Sony PS4 closes the price gap with Xbox One!
Wait you ask? Wasn't Microsoft's Xbox One more expensive than Sony's PS4? Well yes, yes it was. Now it is slightly less expensive as Sony just raised the cost of the PS4 in Canada by $50 cutting their price advantage in half.
Stolen from Joystiq:
- The Toronto Sun reports that starting today, the PlayStation 4 will cost $50 more in Canada, up from its previous price of $399.99.
Unfortunately, the bad news doesn't end there. The PlayStation Camera and DualShock 4 are also rising in price, from $59.99 to $64.99. Two games exclusive to Sony's system - Infamous: Second Son and MLB 14: The Show - are also getting bumped, from $64.99 to $69.99.
A quick scan of websites shows that the prices have gone up at Future Shop and Best Buy. Walmart and EBgames were inconclusive.
This price change seems odd in a newly launched console and appears, to me, to be the first major mis-step I have seen by Sony.
Still. Only in Canada, eh?
A return to Der Riese that may have been my fault
And did it ever go late...
I have been in the US visiting Lake George Six Flags Indoor Waterpark with Rolly and Guba for March Break. Our drive home yesterday through Lake Placid was quite pleasant. Our drive there, though, through the storm the US called Vulcan was anything but pleasant. The drive through the Adirondack Mountains (pictured below) turned out to be the least worst part.
When we got to the interstate we were expecting cleaner roads and better conditions. Dodging two cars and a pedestrian to get on the interstate proved otherwise. Going sixty (kilometres) down the snow covered highway with no lanes marked was nightmarish. It was a long twenty minutes covering only four exits. We did get to the Great Escape Lodge eventually despite almost getting stuck (again) with a last second turn into Six Flags Drive. Which Guba couldn't use four hours later when she was turned away by State Troopers after an emergency grocery run. Everyone discovered that when the water park closes at 9:00 so does room service and all the attached restaurants. Basically any method of getting food at the hotel closes when the water park does.
Is this getting long and away from the point? Are you even surprised? Anyway...
We ended up playing Der Riese until 2:30 in the morning and it was my fault. Despite being willing to do it again (tonight even) that was way too late. Here is how it happened.
Titanfall launches today
And I find that I am not too concerned. Still, here is the Official Gameplay Launch Trailer
Please note that this is the Xbox One and PC version. There is an Xbox 360 version arriving in two weeks (March 25).
I would not buy the Xbox 360 version until you have read 360 specific reviews. There are none of the cloud features that are a big part of the multi-player servers and AI on the Xbox One, the beta run excluded the 360 version, and it was sub-contracted out to a separate developer (Bluepoint). None of these things are necessarily bad but I would still wait for specific reviews.
Bacon Fest 2014!
For the last twelve years or so, once a year we celebrate the pig.
This is the first year a video was made
You're all jealous I know

Mini Metro: A fun little time waster
Because all I need is more ways to waste time...
Mini Metro is still in Alpha version but is already a lot of fun to play. Available to play in your browser or as a download for Windows, OS X and/or Linux. The final release should be available for iPad as well.
Described by the developer as:
- Mini Metro is an upcoming minimalistic subway layout game. Your small city starts with only three unconnected stations. Your task is to draw routes between the stations to connect them with subway lines. Everything but the line layout is handled automatically; trains run along the lines as quickly as they can, and the commuters decide which trains to board and where to make transfers.
Mini Metro is coming to PC, Mac, Linux, iPad, and Android tablets in early 2014.
