Revisiting Zombie Chronicles: Moon

By Blackwalt - Posted on 03 June 2017

Game: Call of Duty Black Ops. Map: Moon

I read an article about a Playstation player who missed playing the original Zombie Chronicles maps once he retired his PS3. This lead me to realize how lucky we were to have backwards compatibility on the Xbox One. Compatibility that included the three Call of Duty games that included the Original zombie maps. While waiting for the Xbox release of Zombie Chronicles I decided this would be the ideal chance to revisit the original maps in their original forms. One player, one attempt... How bad could it be?

Number seven: Moon

"One of these days Blackwalt — POW! Straight to the Moon!"

I have to admit that I am trying to blank out my memories of this Revisiting Zombie Chronicles series. I had been expecting somewhat better results. I just wasn't getting them. Visiting the moon I remembered that we usually headed to the Bio-dome and set up there. I didn't make it there. I didn't get close.

Once again I found the stakeout but skipped it to try an get something useful out of the tickle trunk! However the sniper rifle proofed un-useful. I stuck with the M14 and the MPL. I didn't get far enough along to grab anything else.

Revisiting Zombie Chronicles: Shangri-la

By Blackwalt - Posted on 29 May 2017

Game: Call of Duty Black Ops. Map: Shangri-la

In an article yesterday I read about a Playstation player who missed playing the original Zombie Chronicles maps once he retired his PS3.

Number six: Shangri-la

Ohhhh Shangri-la! Once again I went in hoping for better and then got spiked twice while moving into the second room. Totally forgot about those until I got hit. Twice.

Once again I happily found and bought the stakeout! I had worked my way down to the cave and even managed to tickle trunk once. This is when I set up in the back with the geyser as an emergency escape route.

This worked for one round until I discovered that the geyser was also an entrance for the zombies and not the clear escape route I had thought it was.

Revisiting Zombie Chronicles: Ascension

Game: Call of Duty Black Ops. Map: Ascension

In an article yesterday I read about a Playstation player who missed playing the original Zombie Chronicles maps once he retired his PS3.

Number five: Ascension

Remember how I keep hoping that this will get better? Turns out this doesn't happen in Ascension although I thought it was going well. Still no double digits.

The stakeout! I think the happiest I have been replaying these classic zombie maps was when I found the stakeout on the wall and had enough money to buy one. My favourite shotgun from the zombie maps and I demonstrated it on as many zombies as I could find!

I managed to find the Tickle trunk and even get a LMG. I worked my way to the open area and was about to set up in the back room that we usually camped. I never managed to open the large door as the zombies coming out of the mud took me out. This was when I realized I had forgotten to buy Quick Revive.

We can stick with the classic Zombie Chronicles maps or move on to some of the ones that aren't included in the remastering: Five, Die Rise, Rise of the Dead, Mob of the Dead, Der Riese (NO!), and others.

Revisiting Zombie Chronicles: Kino Der Toten

By Blackwalt - Posted on 24 May 2017

Game: Call of Duty Black Ops. Map: Shi No Numa

In an article yesterday I read about a Playstation player who missed playing the original Zombie Chronicles maps once he retired his PS3.

Number four: Kino Der Toten

Still no double digits and I am starting to suspect I may not see them in this series I suspect I may be revisiting some of these just to see if I can do better.

I barely remembered Kino Der Toten and found myself looking all over for windows and wall weapons. I even forgot which way we usually went through the map. Although I did remember to buy Quick Revive this time.

Revisiting Zombie Chronicles: Shi No Numa

Game: Call of Duty World at War. Map: Shi No Numa

In an article yesterday I read about a Playstation player who missed playing the original Zombie Chronicles maps once he retired his PS3.

Number three: Shi No Numa

Remember how I was talking about double digits? Shi No Numa was not that time. It's not looking good for Kino Der Toten either.

I remember Shi No Numa was never one of our favourite maps.

Despite this I did manage to buy a trench gun which I quickly replaced with a PPSh-41 and MG42 out of the Tickle Trunk. I got out to the Fisherman's Hut and for the first time in my revisitation of the original Zombie Chronicles maps managed to buy a perk. Juggernog.

Revisiting Zombie Chronicles: Zombie Verrückt

By Blackwalt - Posted on 22 May 2017

Game: Call of Duty World at War. Map: Zombie Verrückt

In an article yesterday I read about a Playstation player who missed playing the original Zombie Chronicles maps once he retired his PS3.

Number two: Zombie Verrückt

Okay. Technically 6 is better than 5. Just not much better. I think I should have rethought this one attempt deal and gone with a best of three. Too late now...

Strangely I discovered that according to the game this map is called Zombie Verrückt. For some reason I had always assumed it was just Verrückt but there it is in the screenshot: Zombie Verrückt. Huh, who knew?

Revisiting Zombie Chronicles: Nacht der Untoten

By Blackwalt - Posted on 21 May 2017

Game: Call of Duty World at War. Map: Nacht der Untoten

In an article yesterday I read about a Playstation player who missed playing the original Zombie Chronicles maps once he retired his PS3.

First up: Nacht der Untoten

I remember when World at War first came out and we all had to wait for Stormblade to finish the game before Zombie Mode could be unlocked and played. This was before the patch which unlocked it for all players. I also remember the sheer number of nights lost to our first experience with zombie mode.

The Orville Official Trailer

Good to know we no longer need to fear the banana

This is a Star Trek spoof coming from Seth Macfarlane. I was trying to remember what it was called when I was talking to Coxxorz about it.

All he cares about is the return of Adrianne Palicki to TV. He's missed her since she left Agents of Shield. Where she played Bobbi "Mockingbird" Morse.

I think this is as close as we will get to Galaxyquest on TV. The trailer was a lot better than I was expecting.

Another Black Ops 3 Zombie video

By Blackwalt - Posted on 17 May 2017

I think... I sent the embed string to myself but can't see it from here

Is this the 8 Days of the Undead thing? I really don't care too much for two reasons:

  1. I can't see the video from here
  2. It isn't out on Xbox for another month

COXXORZ RANDOM XBONE "FREE" OF THE DAY

The Battlefield 1 expansion In the Name of the Tsar is available free for three more days. I think I now have two free expansions for a game I don't own. Maybe if I hit all the expansions I will pick up the game itself!

RANDOM QUOTE OF THE WEEK

Great, your heart graph is giving me a heart attack. Thanks.
