HD not so HD again!

By Blackwalt - Posted on 30 March 2008

So I woke up and wandered downstairs to see what Rolly and Guba were up to.

Turned out they had broken into my new HD DVD player before I did, watching Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

And evidence suggested that the conversion to HD did not improve the film.

"What is wrong with their faces?"

A hard lesson in growing up male

By Blackwalt - Posted on 18 February 2008

Well I had hoped Rolly would have made it past 2.5 years in age before he started getting hard lessons in growing up male.

He hit one of life's first milestones on Sunday.

Getting stood up.

Yes his date for the Backyardigans bailed on him, one hours notice with one of your traditional excuses, "I am throwing up everywhere... but I still want to go, really."

Yes, sure you do. We believe little Snuffy D junior, we believe. You little heart breaker you.

Out with the "old and broken..."

...and in with the new 120GB hotness!

Guess what was in my package?

It was a Microsoft Xbox 360 Data Migration Kit. It was! It was! It was!

Miracles do happen.

After going over everything very careful I initiated the transfer and very patiently (NOT!) waited the 1 hour and 3 minutes for it to transfer my 20GB data over to my 120GB drive.

Preparing for disappointment

By Blackwalt - Posted on 12 February 2008

So Guba sends the following information in an email:

You got a package in a brown diskette envelope.

Says it is a CD and Cable.

You all know about my nightmares with Microsoft and sadly, there is a chance that this "CD and Cable" is my Microsoft Xbox 360 Data Migration Kit. A chance.

Timmies' cards just aren't quite ready

By Blackwalt - Posted on 17 January 2008

At Christmas I received three Timmies' gift cards. Something I was very happy about.

However, it seems that my regular drivethru stop is not totally prepared for them.

Here is a picture of my third issue with the Timmies' staff. Please note the bottom entry Request Additional tender 129.39. Yes, it was a $130 coffee. Where was I? Starbucks?

Needless to say, this erased my card completely and her simple question "How much money did you have on the card?" kind of tipped me off to the problem.

It's not that I hate Microsoft.

Just their Xbox 360 support team. Yes, all of them.

You all know about my continuing and varied problems with MS Xbox 360 Tech Support. Just take a look at HoC node 46 , HoC node 103 (my favourite), HoC node 138 , HoC node 145 , HoC node 235 (kind of), HoC node 339 , HoC node 412 or the slightly misconstrued HoC node 224 which could have been their fault. It could have!!

So... Q-Bert comes over tonight to play Xbox 360

By Blackwalt - Posted on 31 December 2007

Among others things. His wife and kids are also here.

I talk to him on the phone in advance. "Make sure you bring Crackdown. I thought we should have a two player game in case no one else is online."

So Q-bert shows up with Crackdown. Only Crackdown.

Am I right in considering him an idiot?

Just curious.

Zellers and free money.

Seriously, sometimes I am confused by our consumer society and the corporate lack of logic. Unlike the EBgames style however, this was in my favour.

I received for christmas a very nice present in the form of "Live free or Die Hard" on dvd. Great, I was looking forward to it. Unfortunately said gift was a Full Screen version as the gift came from a non-technological, non-geek type person. Yes Virginia, they do exist.

Mass Effect update

By Blackwalt - Posted on 22 December 2007

Woohoo!

I'm a SPECTRE!!!

And no, I have no idea what that means either....

1:55 - "Critical Mission Failure"

By Blackwalt - Posted on 11 December 2007

Well this could mean just about anything...

It's time.

I have the house to myself, the day off work, and a fresh pot of coffee just brewed.

Let's crack the shrink wrap on this puppy and see what it's made of...

Mass Effect has been weighing on me

By Blackwalt - Posted on 04 December 2007

I know Mass Effect is an RPG and that I don't normally play RPGs.

But this one is weighing on me. It's reviewing well (very). Its SciFi based story is extremely well written and everywhere I turn its being written of or spoke of. Read more

So. It's a good thing I kicked my MUA addiction

By Blackwalt - Posted on 03 December 2007

Because one of you fracking bastards stole my copy!!!

I know this because Rolly likes to walk around with my copy saying Spiderman over and over again.

Now Occam's razor is paraphrased as All other things being equal, the simplest solution is the best which to me would mean that Rolly just put it down somewhere and I haven't found it yet. Read more

So... I have good news and I have bad news

By Blackwalt - Posted on 19 November 2007

As I posted previously I had been suffering through an addiction to Marvel Utimate Alliance.

Good News: with your help I have fought off my addiction.

Bad News: anyone want to play Call of Duty 4? Read more

My name is Blackwalt and I have a problem

By Blackwalt - Posted on 05 November 2007

Other than you guys.

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is coming out in the next couple of days. Rated 10 of 10 in OXM's December issue (which arrived in October, go figure). They rave about COD4 for six full pages, both single player and multi player.

"Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare reinvents a franchise — and damn near perfects the military shooter in the process."

And yet all I want to play is Marvel Ultimate Alliance. Darn you, you little ultimate superheroes! Get your hooks off of me and let me go... Read more
