Things you don't really want to hear from your three-year-old
While reading Dr. Suess
- "I don't know the small 'f' word."
There may have been a substantial amount of parental laughter.
Saturday Night's alright for...
...Rock band 2?
Last Saturday's Hockey Night in Canada was the Montreal Canadiens versus the Ottawa Senators. Stormblade's favourite versus Guba's favourite.
Knowing that Stormblade's copy of Rock Band 2 had arrived and that he was aware of Guba's minor fanaticism with Rock Band 2 I sent him an email around 5 PM. "Guba Says! Rock Band 2 at 7:00," knowing this would set him off and put him in direct conflict with Guba. My evil sense of humor at work.
After starting this plot in motion I then went and informed Guba of what we had just done.
Email back from Stormblade, "Umm.... Habs/Sens?"
Response to Stormblade, "GUBA SAYS!!!!!!!"
Email back from Stormblade, "Gulp... okay..."
It didn't help
New guitar, same lack of talent
Now I had hoped that the new guitar and the switch to the proper frets would go well. It didn't.
It went poorly.
Mind you, I was trying an additional change based on IGN's strategy guide:
- Your pointer finger may instinctively head for the green button, but you must resist that temptation! Ideally, your four fingers will be placed like so: pointer on the red, middle on the yellow, ring on the blue, and pinkie on the orange. To hit the green notes, you'll slide your pointer upward on the fret board, and return it to the red button afterward.
That's my son alright
It must be in the genes
So over the past few months we have been inheriting a bunch of kids toys as some close friends have been cleaning house. Most recently Rolly received a Vtech Talking Whiz Kid Plus which is basically a small toy laptop. Rolly calls it his computer (slightly mispronounced) and uses it to make beeping noises, price toy cars, and process credit cards.
It has moved from his play area to his bedroom and to his bed. In short, he likes it.
Canadian Thanksgiving
What Half-pint is thankful for
- Slow chipmunks.
No more explanation required although Half-pint did share his thanks with us as he carried it by our group sitting in the backyard.
Fixed the comics updates
And inundated the site...
Corrected and moved Akufadumamai strips into the Clan Comics Episode and Storyline.
Moved Storm's attempted Console Exchange out of the canon Console Exchange storyline into the Clan Comics storyline. Up to strip #8 now, next entry should be #9 to keep the next/previous stuff working. It will not update this autmatically! It defaults to #0 if you leave it blank which screws up the next/previous arrows.
I am holding off on my HoC Live update today to spare you all from Comic overload. Read more
Apple Mighty Mouse. $5 $5 $5
Mac'ing on a budget
It might seem odd that I was looking for an Apple Mighty Mouse for the Mac Mini (G4) that I picked up cheap.
But truthfully, I wasn't. Really. But...
So I am in Future Shop with Hardw00d and Coxxorz and Hardw00d is negotiating a new iMac. On the shelf in the Mac accessories section in a wired Mighty Mouse in a plastic bag. So I look at it. $14.97 with a full warranty. Hmmm.... not bad. No manual or box but who needs those.
Not doing my part for St. Catharines...
Sorry Garden City... but I was thinking of buying it. Honest.
Continuing my experiment in better gaming through office supplies I just picked up my copy of Too Human.
Although technically I had it delivered direct to my office which is really much easier.
While a lot of reviews have been mediocre I felt better about Too Human after reading Sarcastic Gamer's take.
Another HoC Sega Nite passes true to form
With no HoC members...
Well, not really true, the usual suspects Stormblade, Coxxorz, and Blackwalt were there.
But I think we are going to rename HoC Sega Nite to Stormblade, Coxxorz, and Blackwalt Sega Nite just to be able to meet truth in advertising standards.
Don't worry though we would be perfectly happy to welcome you if you should join us! And I can say that sincerely because I know it will never happen.
I've found my new best friend
I wasn't that attached to Stormblade or Coxxorz anyway
- Hello NS2000, my new friend,
I've come to kill with you again,
Because a enemy softly creeping,
Took my flag while I was sleeping,
And the noob that was planted on my team
Still remains
Within the sound of shotguns.
- with apologies to Simon and Garfunkel. I'm really, really sorry. I mean that. Sorry.
Really.
He's Einstein when it comes to food.
Otherwise, he's 51 cards short of a deck
So this is the Ikea shoe storage cabinet that we keep the Cat's dry food in. Right now it contains Ziploc bags of dry food. Ziploc bags because Half-pint chewed threw the original bags when they sat near the front door.
Needless to say the Ziploc bags now have holes chewed in them.
The Ikea shoe storage cabinets don't come with cats stuffed in them, Half-pint added that feature. No he wasn't hungry, the food was just there. These cabinets have a tilt door so he has to pull the door forward to open it before forcing himself inside. Apparently its not a very comfortable position as he pulls out a mouthful of food and drops it on the floor to finish it.
...before going back for more. Rinse and repeat
I must admit that this does explain why five of the six cabinets were sitting open last night. I had been wondering.
GRID tips: Finishing first in 24-hour Le Mans.
And I mean first overall, not first in class
Here are some simple tips on how to finish first in GRID's 24-hour Le Mans. Well one tip really:
- Blow $20,000,000 on a single car. An Audi R10 TDI.
That was fast!
It's here. It's here.
My repaired (theoretically, as I haven't tested it yet) Xbox 360 core is back from Microsoft.
That wasn't too bad, clocking in at eleven days. I guess when you pay for repair it is processed slightly faster than warranty work.
Here we go again!
Defective once again, my Xbox 360 Core returns to Microsoft...
Because I haven't had enough issues with Microsoft's faulty Xbox 360 design:
- HoC node 1444, HoC node 46 , HoC node 103 , HoC node 138 , HoC node 145 , HoC node 235 , HoC node 339 , HoC node 412, HoC node 805, and HoC node 807 although some of these are stories more than actual flaws
As mentioned in a previous blog entry my Xbox 360 Core has failed yet again. Admittedly, after loaning it to MoriceRevek. Like that's ever going to happen again! And after researching the complications involved in replacing the DVD drive myself or locally I am sending it in to Microsoft for repair.
