World's most successful game studio is.....

By Swag - Posted on 12 May 2010

Take a guess.

Posted by Kotaku (not Gamasutra, yet), Nintendo takes the top spot this year from Blizzard (who are way down the list at 80).

On a Canadian note, the #3 spot belonged to EA Canada, and number 4, Ubisoft Montreal (and 7 more Canadian companies in the top 100).

Examiner: Get your damn kids off Xbox Live

By Blackwalt - Posted on 11 May 2010

Okay, so he may have phrased it differently...

They may want to think about updating the Xbox Live Code of Conduct: Last updated April 2004. It's like they don't even care. Oh wait...They may want to think about updating the Xbox Live Code of Conduct:
Last updated April 2004. It's like they don't even care. Oh wait...

A Gamer's Plea: Parents, teach your kids or get them off of XBox Live.

He is correct. It is the parents that need to get involved and the most abusive players I run up against (other than you guys) are usually children.

Gaming Union: Why Red Dead Redemption Should Be On Your Radar

By Blackwalt - Posted on 11 May 2010

So technically this is a Red Dead Redemption story

At least I waited 24 hours...

Why Red Dead Redemption Should Be On Your Radar.

Based on what Rockstar has shown so far, there is growing evidence to suggest Red Dead Redemption will be their best offering to date. For starters, the game is set on the western frontier of turn-of-the-century America, or as it's more commonly known, the wild west.

Red Dead Redemption is a sequel.

By Blackwalt - Posted on 10 May 2010

Who knew?

Well, I kind of knew but it isn't like Rockstar Games is trumpeting it as a sequel. I guess they aren't exactly hiding it either. Still…

This really isn't another Red Dead Redemption post.

It is not! It's about Red Dead Revolver, the prequel to Red Dead Redemption. So there.

I had forgotten that back in May 2004 Rockstar Games had released a game called Red Dead Revolver.

The calm of the frontier was shattered and a young man's innocence was lost
when he witnessed the brutal murder of his family. Years have passed but the
forged memory and the need for reckoning have not. Now a bounty hunter, you
must journey to uncover the truth and to reap vengeance on those responsible.

You are Red... and this is the Wild West.

Ship it, we'll fix the story in the DLC...

By Q-Bert - Posted on 09 May 2010

Then they did the same thing again with Assassin’s Creed II; this time with portions smack-dab in the middle of the game. They cut out two chapters in the middle of the game right before a major time jump in the story, leaving players curious as to what happened during the skipped years.

Good article about incomplete games charging for DLC that gives the user what they should have gotten in the first place.

Damn! Canadian beaver can be seen from space!

By Q-Bert - Posted on 09 May 2010

"It's in one of the most remote areas you'll find in this park," he said. "It is quite literally in the middle of nowhere — there are no roads, no navigable streams to it."

OK, we are taking about a beaver dam, but still. It's been on Google News for almost three weeks now. I can't believe it wasn't posted here yet.

HoC Lego flower of the Mother's Day

By Blackwalt - Posted on 09 May 2010

happy mother's day Guba; love Rolly

Rolly and I went into ToysRus Saturday to buy Lego for Guba's Mother's Day present. Yes, lego. Obviously.

We discovered a lineup for Lego flowers that ToysRus were giving out as a promotion.

Rolly decided to stay in line for the flower and wait it out.

For over an hour.

The house that Paulina (the cow) built

By Blackwalt - Posted on 08 May 2010

Now I know what builder Ice is using on the lot near his parent's farm

Three simple steps to Antón García-Abril's Trufa house:

  1. build a house shape out of hay bales
  2. pour concrete over the hay bales (and dirt over the concrete)
  3. Let loose the cows! – in this case, one cow, Paulina

To empty the interior, the calf Paulina arrived, and enjoyed the 50m3 of the nicest food, from which she nourished for a year until she left her habitat, already as an adult and weighing 300 kilos. She had eaten the interior volume, and space appeared for the first time, restoring the architectural condition of the truffle after having been a shelter for the animal and the vegetable mass for a long time.

And yes, there is video.

Call of Duty: The War Collection announced.

By Blackwalt - Posted on 08 May 2010

Okay but why?

Available in early June for a list price of $59.99 USD. $59.99? Yeah, that just screams deal.

I guess it's possible that some Xbox Gamers don't have at least one of these already, but at this point you don't really need all three. With a little effort you can find these titles used for a better price. Not at Gamestop, of course, but used.

Also no information on DLC (included or not) and/or which versions are included (as most of them have Game of the Year editions).

Please note that's its also rated Teen and Mature at the same time. Doesn't that just seem wrong?

And early June? Seriously. You should be spending your money on Crackdown 2 instead. You know, a new game.

Leaked on Amazon and Gamestop.

Via Joystiq first but also lots of other places..
