EVE-Online: How I am back on the crack-cocaine...
I have been looking for a game to play during "idle time". I don't have much of it, and the only time that you girls are available to play has been after 9PM. That's not optimal for me.
The Hunt For An Addiction
Well, I am not looking for an addiction per-se, but follow me on this. The only games that I have kept playing for any length of time have been MMPORGs (and Assassin's Creed, but I blame Stormblade for that). The biggest problem that I had with MMPORGs have been the cost. I have played WoW and EVE-Online. Both ask for about $15US per month. Not a huge sum for most of the readers of this site, but still hard to justify to myself. Considering that I have about 1 to 2 hours per week of available time for this, that makes the cost about $2 per hour of play (what's *your* cost-per-hour ?).
Red Faction: Guerilla review from Dubious Quality
F'ing Bill Harris posted a one line review for Red Faction: Guerilla
- If you don't like this game, you're dead inside.
It was longer that his article title Yes, I Was Supposed To Write About "Red Faction: Guerilla" Today, But Gloria's Computer Croaked, So Until Monday, Here's The Summary Version.
I have my own one line to add to this:
- Father's Day.
Call of Duty WaW — Shi No Numa
They keep doing it, I don't know how
So Treyarch gives us Map Pack 2 with a third game type of Zombie Mode. Once again different, and once again a success.
What is remarkable to me is the different style of play in each of the three Zombie modes. Nacht de Untoten was a bonus throw in. Still a full game mode and still a blast to play but a very simple survive the zombies style of gameplay. Four rooms, no perks, and the Mystery box stuck around forever. Verrückt added a larger game map, the separate location start with the players split into two groups, electric fences, perks, and a moving Mystery Box (damn you Treyarch). Distinctly different from Nacht de Untoten mode.
Shi No Numa, HoC version
Yes, we spent a lot of time in the Comm Room. Why do you ask?
Feedback growing for Red Faction: Guerilla, positive feedback.
Snuffy D's friend and mine, F'ing Bill Harris says some nice things about Red Faction: Guerilla
In F'ing Bill Harris blog entry on Infamous (PS3) he talks about two things: Crackdown and Red Faction: Guerilla. This is standard fare for him. He does talk about Infamous and how he is done with it after three hours but I like his two references to Crackdown:
- Infamous isn't even worthy of washing Crackdown's balls.
- it amazes me how many people are now claiming that they loved Crackdown. When the game was released, it didn't review that well (average Metacritic score 83, which is solid but not spectacular), and the buzz it had going was cult buzz, not mainstream.
This is very true. Our purchase was based totally on cult buzz and Snuffy D.
Back again!
This week HoC Nite returns to its old new old time slot (try to keep up).
We're open to suggestions, so feel free to log in early and set the stage for our destruction.

Call of Duty WaW Map Pack 2: June 11, 2009
Guess it's all official like now. As it has been annouced on CallofDuty.com.
There is also a trailer available.
The trailer shows that the Zombies are Imperial Zombies and you (the player) can now be American, Russian – "Get your hands off my Vodka" or *GASP* German!! Yes, this time you are the Nazis! Seems wrong somehow.

Sadly a fairly typical HoC email exchange

Although, admittedly, I haven't confirmed that I am playing....

Actually I will be around. If Graybush shows up ... ZOMBIES!!!!
I don't expect to see Coxxorz, but if he does show it adds the "save rogue teammate" challenge to the game.

DisasterPiece's Crazy Adventures Episode 1
Well as a lot of you know I make no secret of my PUA adventures. Some of them are funny some of them are lame.
Since I am now known as DisasterPiece (formerly known as Akufadumamai) I am starting it from Episode: 1
I usually only post the funny ones. This past weekend was my niece's wedding in Toronto. And I met a few rather attractive women there.
so there names will be WG1, WG2, WG3 (WG = Wedding Girl)
And the conversation goes:
WG1: So, are you on the groom's or the brides side.
Me: I am the bride's uncle
WG2: No Way
WG3: Seriously?
WG1: Common you can't be that old. Read more
New Zombie Map – overhead view
That would be for Call of Duty: World at War zombie mode
Just in case there was some confusion.
- Soldiers,
We’ve got some bad news. The zombie infestation previously plaguing isolated areas within Germany has spread to the Pacific. Communication is shoddy at best, but we’ve pinned what sounds like an SOS signal to a remote jungle location in Japan.
CallofDuty.com just released an overhead view of the new Shi No Numa (Zombie Swamp) map.
Rife with new and mysterious details!
Pirate ship armed and ready
With a water cannon.
And unfortunately for all involved, pretty much the entire backyard is within range. And some of the neighbours backyard as well. I may have to fix that.
Since we first put in Rolly's Pirate ship (see here and here) I have been planning on installing some kind of water firing device.
The piping and water source (yes, a hose) weren't a problem but I was stuck on a firing mechanism. A simple on/off valve that Rolly could work himself.
It was Guba who ripped out the throttle mechanism from a retired splash rocket and said "here, use this" who solved my dilemma. We have many spare splash rockets because we bought out a clearance shelf last year so this one may have been retired early.
