That is it!
I have lost total respect for Ubisoft.
Chin up girl came over last night (at midnight) to reconcile our differences.
So we made up and the whole Valentines day/March 14th came up again.
Though nothing really came out of it.
She asked if she could use my computer because she wanted to show me something. She goes to amazon and tells me she is going to get me this for March 14th.
I told her well that is one expensive coaster. Read more
Legitimacy of HoC reviews
When is a review not a review?
So last week I was in a conversation about Game Reviews and how reviewers are supposed to finish a game before they are allowed to post a review. This means that most reviewers play through games on the easiest setting to be able to finish the game. We questioned whether or not this effected the legitimacy of the review as most game are designed to be played on a medium or difficult setting.
The important part of this I realized is the reviewer does play the entire game before posting a review.
Tom Clancy should retire
I always say you should go out at the top of your game, and videogames are no exception. Having played the demo just now, I'm somewhat relieved to conclude that I won't be buying this one. I'm not a huge fan of flight sims, but figured that this would have a more arcadey slant, and it does. But what on earth would possess them to use a third-person camera system? I spent most of the time looking back at my own plane, from a distance, which looks surprisingly the same right side up as it does upside down. I guess the matching top/bottom stripe package is the instructor's idea of a joke.
Let me give you an idea of what it's like to play:
Take me out to the movies
Got a text from q-bert today, asking me if I was interested in seeing watchmen tonight. I said sure, why not. Even thought I saw it already on Sunday (review to follow) I don't mind seeing it again, especially if I can get him to pay for the tickets.
I told him that when I saw it with swag Sunday, we had to sit 2 rows apart because the theater was already full, even thought we had got there 20 minutes ahead of time.
Same thing again tonight. Except this time, q-bert is sitting 20 seats away. Bonus! Read more
Barnstorming: Saints Row 2 flying 101
#11 btw. No reason.
An exercise in crashing, exploding and going down in flames.
The picture on the left is obviously not my plane as its wings are still intact.
Saints Row 2 includes a Barnstorming Diversion. Barnstorming involves flying your plane through a somewhat challenging path. There are 35 different stunt locations. Flying through each one gains you a successful "Barnstorm," completing all 35 barnstorms gains you an achievement.
It's only 10g but it is a fun 10g. You have to go to the airport and get a plane out of your hanger and then fly it halfway across the map to a stunt location.
I should have gotten a Wii, MadWorld is out
I know that Aku was asking about it. It's supposed to be pretty good too. Damn you people.
Note: It's from a Third Party developer, finally.
Aku's Twister Party
Well seeing as you have to be an admin to have an event posted on the front page.
I am taking the other route.
Here is the event
I am sure after the demolition party @ QBert's there will be much fun here.
All those who have not been injured @ the demo party. You are more than welcome to join.
Just be aware this is NOT your typical LAN party this is a house party.

Cheers.
Now THIS is a game worth paying for
While the usual gang of losers I play games with continue to submit themselves to the torture of SR2, A game like this comes out. You guys probably won't like it though, because it will be fun and easy to play. Read more
I feel so used...
TeamXbox posted a good column on used games
This loosely connects to my opinion article on high priced games. It's a good take on game publisher's views of the used game market (although it doesn't take their side) and has some great sub-titles.
Team Talk: The Video Game Said, “I Feel So Used!”
Plus I got to use the lame graphic.
February 2009 Top Picks
Just under five pages for February. Pretty good keeping our average up during a short month. Although it did appear that Saints Row 2 took over the site and is still holding it hostage. "Press 'Y' to start Hostage Diversion"
- 256 reads - Saint's Row 2 was a lot of fun
- 180 reads - Saints Row 2: A review
- 171 reads - Going to the movies
Saints Row, Saints Row, Saints Row. But I'm okay with that. My discourse of Coxxorz's and my experiences placed #1. Q-Berts review placed #2. I find this particularly entertaining as last Wednesday he joined my co-op game and made it very clear, when he had issues following me around, that he had only played it once before . Hmmm... but enough information to review it huh? Who are you Stormblade? And #3 is Moricerevek and Q-Bert discussing gay movies. Intelligently I might add.

Happy Birthday Q-Bert
Please join us in wishing a happy 41 to our beloved webmaster: Q-Bert.
I'm sure you've all come to know and love Q-Bert as much as we have over the years. But what very few people know outside of a small core group of friends is that Q-Bert has never felt quite comfortable in his male body. In fact, over the last year or so, he's been spending more and more time as his female alter-ego: Q-Bertha.
This is an important and sensitive time for Q-Bert, so we'd like to take this opportunity to extend or best wishes, and encourage you all to donate a few dollars towards Q-Bert's planned surgery later this year. It takes a lot of courage and inner strength to make a decision like this, in spite of the repercussions and personal sacrifice.
We love you, man! You're an inspiration us all.

Did anyone tell Microsoft that there is a recession?
Now I know that the gaming market is supposed to be mostly recession proof but it is hard to accept this when you see stories every day about game companies going under, being sold, games cancelled, staff layoffs, etc.
But browsing through the Best Buy and Future Shop flyers this morning I discovered that Microsoft's knee jerk reaction to the recession has been to increase game prices. What the? Hello? Microsoft? Now I am not a economist by any means but when I see the global market collapsing around me and I see my consumers, my target market, losing access to disposable income (not to mention salaries) the reaction of raising prices seems counter intuitive.
