Official HoC $129 week: Day Three
Still got that spare $129 sitting in your pocket?
$129.99 for an Xbox 360 console or and this is a pretty big OR:
Timely and topical and appropriate for today!
Bear with me as we do the math:
Stop by your local Beer Store and put the following into your cart:
- One 24 Bottle 330 ml case of Harp for $43.95
- Two 12 Bottle 330 ml cases of Harp for $23.50
- Three 6 Bottle 330 ml cases of Harp for $12.95
Train Ride
Today I had to take the car in for servicing. Drive over to the garage, speak to the owner about what needs to be done on the car. I mention to him that my power steering feels a bit stiff. When I turn the wheel, I hit a spot where it stiffens up, then releases. Then stiffens up, then releases again.
Official HoC $129 week: Day Two
What else could you buy with your $129?
So we all know that this is the week to buy an Xbox 360 for $129.99 almost anywhere in Canada. But what else could we do with that valuable dough?
After all we already have an Xbox 360 console (or more). And we have $129 burning a hole in our pocket just waiting to be spent.
There's always the obvious:
Eighty Five and one half large double doubles from your local Tim Horton's
$129 at the nearest Tim Horton's drive through.
You may want to pace yourself.
On the other hand, you will be looking at one major all night gaming marathon.
Hands so jittery, can barely hold controller...
Crackdown 2 on July 6th
Can... not... WAIT!
Microsoft and Ruffian Games have announced that Crackdown 2 will release this July 6. And Ruffian Games also suggest (via above graphic) that you book some vacation time. I'm on it!
- So today we finally get to announce our release date for Crackdown 2 and that date is July the 9th 2010. It seems a long way away but to get into the stores on time we’re currently tweaking a few features but mostly squashing bugs like mofos.
Additional video after the jump.
Words cannot express
The sheer awesomeness of this picture. It even looks like Half-Pint!
Official HoC $129 week: Day One
What else could you buy with your $129?
Why waste your hard earned (for some of us) $129 on yet another Xbox 360 console, aside from the obvious reasons.
Instead used your $129 on a new audio solution for your exisiting console.
Turtle Beach Earforce X31 Wireless Headset (XBOX 360)
$129 at Future Shop or Best Buy
Gamepro: First look at the new Lara Croft
Lara Croft Diablo clone...
I don't get it? You can barely even see Lara's guns...
- Core to this impression is the fact that the viewpoint has shifted from behind Lara to a fixed isometric viewpoint. This has freed the development team to focus more on the content of Guardian of Light, and less on managing camera angles or wrangling the graphics engine. It's also particularly useful for accommodating the title's fundamental shift toward being a two player co-operative action experience. Players work together to fight off large swarms of bad guys, and solve environmental puzzles by taking advantage of the key characters' core strengths.

This is, literally, an Xbox 360 coffin
I'm going to need more than one
Send your RRODed Xbox 360 off in style
- According to Vanmois, each Xbox 360 ROD coffin will come with a signed death certificate, complete with the serial number of your 'expired' machine. "I want to give each certificate a personal touch, so it feels more like a proper funeral," Alex said. Purchasers can also send through any additional text they want printed on the certificate, such as poems or eulogies. ('My beloved Xbox, when you became an ex-box the world grew a little darker...')
Bungie returns to Marathon
Sure... why not?
Bungie has filed a request for trademark under the Marathon name.
The full, dry and boring request is available for your perusal here.
Those of you who know what a Mac is will remember how Bungie was a Mac developer first and that Marathon was a revolutionary first person shooter released only on the Mac.
Although Marathon 2 saw a Windows release and Marathon: Durandal was redone in HD and released on Xbox Live Arcade in 2007.
Sometimes I think EBGames just doesn't get it
No wonder their used games are making so much money
$5 more for the used version? Oh, yes please. It's pretested.
It's officially $129 week here at Herd of Cats
Who needs March Break?
Who says March Break is for the kids! With Xbox 360's dropping to $129 CDN everywhere it's time to pick up an Xbox 360 Console (or second, or third or fourth – you know who you are) and catch up with your gaming.
This is the Arcade edition with the RROD proof motherboard (theoretically), the silent DVD drive, 256 MB internal memort and a wireless Xbox controller. Keep in mind these use less power so the power bricks are NOT compatible with your previous Xbox 360 Consoles.
