Coxxorz's Bargain Corner – 07292009

Yes, I know, again, but...

Acting on a tip from Coxxorz (see) I dropped by a local Staples.

He had sent me looking for Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Game of the Year edition. Apparently it "is on clearance, and scans at $25 despite the sticker price. If you happen to go by a Staples (not Barrhaven, already looked), could you have a look if they have one?"

Well it's not in Bells Corners either but I did discover something else.

Sometimes

So I finished my co-op Resident Evil 5 day with Coxxorz and I still wanted to play more of the game.

The problem was, I was unsure if Coxxorz was still interested. He did play it but I was unclear how much he had enjoyed it.

But I had the game rented until Thursday (as did he) so I figured I could at least ask. So I emailed him:

Co-op Day #5 — Resident Evil 5

By Blackwalt - Posted on 28 July 2009

My day with Milla Jovo... Coxxorz and Resident Evil 5

Every few months or so Coxxorz and I get together for a day of Xbox 360 Co-op goodness. We wait for a game to come around and then wait for an appropriate day. This time around we had the day but not the game.

We discovered two co-op games available in our two week quest:

  1. One old game for purchase, Mercenaries 2: World in flames
  2. One new game for rent, Resident Evil 5

Guess which one we picked?

Taz for Herd of Cats, on location.

My human screamed this morning when she went downstairs to make sure our food quantities were adequate for our daily routine. At that point, I was thinking that if it's a mouse, I'll task the Dumb Orange cellmate to take care of it... Read more

Apple confirms death of iPhone worker

By Coxxorz - Posted on 24 July 2009

According to the media, a worker at Chinese manufacturer Foxconn reportedly committed suicide after losing a prototype of Apple's 4G iPhone.

DigitalBeat reports that 25 year-old Sun Danyong was tasked with shipping 16 of the prototype phones from the assembly line at the local factory to Apple:
"At some point in the next few days, he discovered that one of the phones was missing. He suspected that it had been left at the factory, but couldn’t find it.

EB Games daily Door Crashers continues

In case you were holding off for a better deal on Call of Duty: World At War, now would be a good time to grab it. The Xbox 360 Collector's Edition is on sale for $39.98 today only, so you better stop by EB Games on your way home from school tonight.

The continually produced "Limited Collector's Edition" comes with Call of Duty 5 itself, and the following useless items:

EB Games Game Days redux

By Coxxorz - Posted on 21 July 2009

In an attempt to redeem myself for posting faulty deal info, I'm back for Round Two of Bargain Whoring.

In addition to their daily Door Crashers for the month of July, EB Games is running a weekly special. This week's deal is a good one: save a certain percentage off a used gaming accessory with the purchase of a used game. It breaks down like this:

Save 10% on a used accessory with the purchase of any $9.99 used game
Save 25% on a used accessory with the purchase of any $14.99 used game

GTA IV Special Edition $19.98 at EB Games... or not.

By Blackwalt - Posted on 21 July 2009

Not at all related to Call of Duty. Not at all related to Call of Duty.YES!!!! Call of Duty: World at War Map Pack 3 Zombie goodness

Activision and Treyarch have announced the upcoming release of the Call of Duty(R): World at War Map Pack 3.

Available this August the new content will contain ...yadda, yadda, yadda, who cares... and one new zombie map!

The undead horde approaches! Fight for your life in "Der Riese" (Zombie Factory), an all-new Zombie map set in a secret Nazi research facility featuring the Pack A Punch Machine, a device capable of upgrading weapons at the touch of a button. Use the teleporters to escape the vicious Hell Hounds and pray that the Wunderwaffe will appear before it's too late.

Teleporters?

Oh, and it will probably be overpriced for a single map but I'll still pay. I'll pay, I tell you, I'll pay. Mmmmm... Zombie goodness...

Man bilked by "eBay MoneyGram" scam

By Coxxorz - Posted on 20 July 2009

Ottawa surfers were horrified this morning to read that a local resident had been scammed out of money on the internet.

The Ottawa Citizen reports that the 23-year-old was duped out of over $5,000 by the devious "You-send-me-money-I-send-you-nothing" scam while trying to buy a pickup truck on eBay:
