Adding images to your posts

By Blackwalt - Posted on 29 August 2009

As an Addendum to the new look

Again, coming from Q-Bert's design emporium is the request for more, larger images. This shouldn't be too difficult as the Image Assist module makes adding images so simple even Moricerevek could do it. He just chooses not to. I am in agreement with Q-Bert here as I hate reading "editor please add graphic as I am too lazy to like it in" in a post. And I have.

We are suggesting an initial larger image similar to these stories (I started early):

  • So Close
  • The Joker gets all the best lines
  • A deal to remember

It doesn't always work but looks good when it does. Q-Bert liked this format from several sites he demonstrated but the only one I remember is Joystiq. And yes, I am aware that there is no large image with this story.

The installed Drupal Module Image_Assist makes adding images simple and easy. Easy enough for you.

    Batman and Bionicles

Rolly had a successful trip to Costco and immediately afterward demonstrated that you need to be disguised as Batman to properly assemble a Bionicle.

This place is becoming more like Arkham Asylum everyday.

It came with two Batarangs. It was explained to him that he can not throw them at people or cats. It was also explained to him that Q-Bert is not people. No reason.

Does this theme make me look fat?

By Blackwalt - Posted on 28 August 2009

Bear with us as our minds are under construction

I blame Q-Bert. He went off on a "need to redesign the site" tangent two weeks ago. So much so that he dragged me (literally) to chapters to buy a CSS book so that he could edit the site from scratch.

We are also looking at upgrading to a newer version of Drupal. This will destroy the comics structure but apparently no one cares. I have given Q-Bert the go ahead.

This is all experimentation. We want a change but we also want your input (except Stormblade's as "I want things back the way they were isn't input." Neither is his the "world is flat" argument or the "if man was meant to fly" bit. It's all a bit stale.

The 2- column look is based on a gut feeling by Q-Bert and who wants to argue with a gut that size?

Let me know how you feel the right hand column blocks should be organized. What is important to you? I bury the Search but maybe you want it higher?

And other than that. We are still tweaking and we are still taking input.

    My fault, I did that

So in playing with a site redesign (shut it Stormblade) I turned off all the left hand blocks. It worked. Turned them all back on again. They all came back except User login which disappears as soon as you login.

Q-Bert is busy trying to figure out what I did (translated by the lexicon to he will look at it whenever).

I can't get it back and as that is how we add content...

The Joker gets all the best lines

By Blackwalt - Posted on 27 August 2009

You know, watching you guys is like a night in, watching my favourite movie. What was the name of that movie again? Oh, yes. Attack of the stupid bungling idiots who can't find an even bigger idiot running around dressed like a bat. — the Joker

    Snow Leopard

    By Q-Bert - Posted on 27 August 2009

Well, I ordered my family pack yesterday. That will take care of my two Intel boxes in the house, but what about my dual G5?

I am rather pissed at Apple for dropping all of PowerPC chips, but I guess that's the price Apple is willing to pay to double their hardware sales this year :-/

So, either I stay with Leopard on my main workstation, or I somehow convince Pebbles that I need a new workstation...

All right everybody, grab your $8 copy of Batman: Arkham Asylum and let's join forces and kick some Joker ass!!!

The suckers that paid a whopping $40 for the game are also welcome, but prepare to be ridiculed.

    A deal to remember

By Blackwalt - Posted on 26 August 2009

Some bargains you remember more than others

I have always enjoyed gaming. No surprise really.

I have always enjoyed a good bargain. Not as much as Coxxorz perhaps but still.

Sometimes. Sometimes, the two cross paths and I end up with a gaming bargain.

A good gaming experience crossing paths with a good bargain is something I always remember. Strange that you never remember a good deal on a bad game. Well, you don't remember it positively.

    Arkham Care

It's like it was made just for you guys

Strange how as soon as they said diseased mind I immediately thought of you.

Except for the cure part, like that could ever happen...

It's just one example of the creative and slightly warped advertising campaign behind Batman: Arkham Asylum.

    District 9 - A Review

By Swag - Posted on 22 August 2009

So me and Q-bert went to see District 9 tonight, right after going to greekfest and eating some nice food.

Right off the bat the movie starts out as a quasi-documentary style narrative, where certain events would happen followed by some solo commentary by various characters (kindof like the Office). What I really enjoyed was the fact that the aliens were shown almost right away, instead of hiding them throughout most of the movie and having them pop out somewhere else later on. Read more
