Just because
Despite the jaded, desensitized world we live in, sometimes it's cool to just smile.
This could be a good idea
A strange one though. I hope it works
It's a simultaneous MMO game and TV series. With events from both effecting each other. What do you think? I think the idea is interesting if nothing else.
SyFy and Trion official Defiance site.
- In a first-of-its-kind partnership, Trion and Syfy are collaborating on a massive event that will launch Defiance simultaneously as a global television program on Syfy and an MMO from Trion. In an entertainment first, the game and show will influence and depend on each other, and even feature some players’ characters on the TV shows as extras.

Microsoft announces a new Xbox 360 steering wheel
Officially named: Xbox 360 Wireless Speed Wheel
From Microsoft News: Microsoft Announces Xbox 360 Wireless Speed Wheel
- Launching in early October, the Wireless Speed Wheel is completely wireless and controlled intuitively with precise steering, standard controller buttons/triggers, and haptic feedback with rumble. The device is compatible with all racing games right out of the box*. The Wireless Speed Wheel will be available for $59.99 (U.S. ERP) and will ship to retailers worldwide beginning September 26, 2011. This device combines a fun and immersive driving experience with the biggest racing game of the year, the best rated “Forza Motorsport.”
With trigger buttons for gas and brake, combined with a rumble feedback, the Xbox 360 Wireless Speed Wheel provides intuitive standard controller buttons that immerse the driver into the game, whether you like to white knuckle it down the race track with your hands at “10 and 2” or “9 and 3.”
I have no problem with buying one of these at $59.99 but I am still going to wait for reviews.

Kotaku has a summary of Day 1
Day one was mostly the Big 3's press conferences.

Saints Row: The Third CG trailer
Not one iota of in game footage but I still watched it all the way through
Hey! It's Saints Row!
Awesome use of Kinect
In a triple A title!
Head tracking in Forza 4. This actually looks pretty cool but I didn't really like the racing style of the first three Forza's so I can't expect this will change my mind on number four.
- There are two things that every discerning gamer needs to see in the Major's Minute video posted below. First: the Kinect-based head tracking features of Forza Motorsport 4, which look exceptionally neat. Second: the steely, Earnhardtian gaze of Major Nelson behind the wheel of a virtual stock car.

The perfect Anti-Zombie handgun
Two words for you – dual wield
So it may break both my arms or jam by the second round. It's worth the risk. The Zombies would know I was there.
- My entry for the Bad-ass Gun Challenge at the ArtOrder blog. The challenge was to design a bad-ass beefy handgun that looked operational and had a skull incorporated in the design.
I decided to go for a slightly Hellboy-ish kind of design by taking a small gun and putting a large caliber round in it. I suspect this thing would jam at the second or third round already, and would have a hell of a kickback when fired.

Zombie Joke of the Day
Three zombies walk into a hospital. When the get to the information desk, the attandant says to the first one:
"How can I help you sir?"
"Need braaaaaaains"
"I see. And you sir?"
"Need braaaaaaaains"
Finally she comses to the third one, and asks the same question, with some exasperation:
"What about you? What do you need."
But the does not get a reply. In fact he looks at her with no sign of life at all. She turns back to the other two and asks:

Carmageddon: Reincarnation announced
- Now, almost 15 years after that first warning announcement, we are pleased to be able to give advanced notification to all those of a nervous disposition that the Carmageddon racers are back. And just for the record – the break hasn’t done anything to improve their road manners.
Today, the team who developed that first game have finally been reunited with their creation. Carmageddon has come home.
Stainless Games is in the early stages of designing the next instalment of the Carmageddon series; Carmageddon: Reincarnation. As the game develops, you’ll be able to follow progress in the Blog. Today, you can read some of Batwick’s ramblings… he doesn’t make much sense, but it’s better than a blank page. Coming soon, nobby will be posting his own blog entry about the awesome concept artwork that's setting the tone for the new game.
You can see more at the official site.
I am so happy I could almost cry. But I won't until I know there are zombies in it...
