Communication: or lack there of

By Blackwalt - Posted on 31 October 2007

Admittedly it is the Herd of cats way, but lack of communication is getting in the way of our serious gaming.

Two night ago MoriceRevek sent me an instant message thought MSN when he saw me online. "Did I want to play MUA online?" Well I did but while his IM was sent at 9:39 I did not notice it until 10:30. This was aggravated by Coxxorz's email message at 10:00 also asking if I wanted to play online. I did not check my email until 10:30. Read more

Haven't watched Heroes yet.

So, no article about it until tomorrow morning.

Ultraviolet

Blackwalt is a good friend, but sometimes you have to take the bad with the good. Take for instance his propensity for finding obscure, really bad science fiction and fantasy series and buying me the second in the series, knowing full well that I will feel obliged to read it. He also knows I will be unable to find the other books in the series, even if I wanted them. As I have mentioned in my blog in the past, this has happened more than once. Read more

Marvel Ultimate Alliance: The New Hotness

By Blackwalt - Posted on 29 October 2007

My working title for this article was “we are all whackjobs” but do not take that personally as that is my working title for all my articles.

Herd of Cats is in the middle of a gaming oddity. Seriously, more than usual. Read more

Banished to the Big Smoke ... Without my XBox 360!!

By Stormblade - Posted on 29 October 2007

Yes I am stuck in Toronto for the week. Really, what could be worse? Yes, I don't have my XBox.

So, what to do. Hmm, well I could watch the Leafs ... of course that's kind of like sticking a knife in my eye and twisting it around. Hey! that sounds like fun! Better than watching the Leafs.

I brought Thraxas with me, but I've already read it three times. Got a couple of movies ...

Sheesh, I'm bored already and I haven't even checked into the hotel!!

Notes on Marvel Ultimate Alliance Multi-player on Live

By Blackwalt - Posted on 28 October 2007

Eventually I will stop writing about Marvel Ultimate Alliance.

Eventually. Until then, some observations about playing through Xbox Live.

  • Four player support is iffy with lag fairly often, two player and three player is mostly fine.
  • If a player quits mid game, it doesn't end the game for everyone (as happens in Halo 3 coop)

Someone tie down Stormblade

By Blackwalt - Posted on 27 October 2007

This news will send him more out of control than normal.

SEGA teams with Marvel to bring Iron Man to Next-Generation gaming systems.

Yes, Iron Man.

TeamXbox even has screenshots.

Avengers disassemble!! And run around screaming while strategically withdrawing!!!

Friday Night Flighting

Okay, enough of this dynamic duo stuff. Let's try for four players online this evening.

It's Friday night, what else would we be doing?

My playing time has been pre-cleared so I am good to go starting sometime between 9:30 and 10:00 hoping to go until midnight. Read more

Note on Magazine oddities

By Blackwalt - Posted on 26 October 2007

I have two magazines that I read regularly. I subscribe to both.

OXM: the Official Xbox Magazine and PCGamer.

Just a quick comment about the impact of Halo 3 on magazine production. Read more

Assassin's Creed

By Coxxorz - Posted on 26 October 2007

Don't really care much about this game, but they have a really cool contest going on right now. Everything from USB keys to computers to the game itself can be won instantly, and yes, even Xbox 360 Elite consoles.

You get to move your guy around the city using a massive grid system. Landing on a spot where another player resides cause you to assassinate him, and earns you points for improving your ranking. Conversely, you can be landed on and lose said points. Prizes are hiding in random spots around town.

I haven't won any prizes yet myself, but I have a good feeling about this one...

In case of Zombies break glass

By Blackwalt - Posted on 25 October 2007

This Emergency Zombie Defense Station seems so logical that it took me a while to realize it wasn't real.

In fact, I gather that this is meant to be humorous. Read more
